    Extended Warranty

I am thinking of purchasing an XTS Platinum in January. I was wondering if anyone who purchased an XTS already also bought the GMPP Extended Warranty. Although I like all the electronics in the car, it scares me abit that something will break. I can only guess how much CUE or the vibrating seats would cost to fix. I would appreciate anyone's thought on this matter.

If your buying not leading yes Absoultely. It's a first year model with an enormous amount of brand new tech. So , if your going keep for more then four years and 50,000 miles I would say yes !!

I bought an XTS Platinum and did not purchase a GMPP. On my last STS I waited until the original Bumper to Bumper was about to run out and then bought the GMPP. My logic is at that point you have a much better idea as to how much longer you intend on keeping your car and how many miles you will need coverage for. Any car can have problems, new model or not. My last STS, a new design etc., was literally one of the first manufactured and first released to the public. I had virtually no problems with it. Also, typically if you are going to have problems with new technology it would usually be early on in your ownership while under the full bumper to bumper warranty.

You should know that you can shop the GMPP and save a significant bundle off list price. Regardless of where you purchase it, it will come directly from GM and be accepted at all Caddy dealers.

Is it more expensive if you wait vs buying when car is brand new ?

    Re: Extended Warranty

It might be, but then again (1) you have your $ until you make the purchase down the road when you have a better idea that you will be keeping the car, (2) if you purchase it when you get your car and end up selling your car well before the extended GMPP, you haven't saved anything and probably lost a bundle.

Yes, if you wait to buy it is more expensive. But like Kip says, if you sell the car early, you don't get very much refunded back.

You can also get a GMPP quote from an online dealer -- and then get your dealer to match it. IF you want to buy the warranty when you buy the car. The last two cars I've bought, the dealers matched their price, and then I was able to finance the warranty into the vehicle.
