Detroit Free Press - Cadillac's marketing dilemma

Focused more on the CTS, but speaks to the entire lineup and the fact that Cadillac now has a family of cars.

I posted here because there was a debate in one of the threads about the pricing overlap of the cars.

They predict that the ATS will be the volume leader and the CTS and XTS may be tied for second.

Article states the the obvious when the pricing of the ATS was introduced. The CTS is now suffering the middle child syndrome with the two new models.

To be expected until the new CTS comes out in 2014.

Article states that will try to distance the starting price of the ATS and CTS by eliminating the base CTS (accounted for a small amount of sales), increasing the price of the CTS slightly and marketing the coupe and wagon versions more.

Hi - Because the XTS is FWD, i'm just wondering if drivers used to and preferring RWD would continue to stay with the CTS?

Will it be RWD biased like e CTS, or FWD biased?

I'm sure it's FWD biased. But i don't think the typical XTS owner would care. As for CTS owners, the CTS was a car that attracted with its style and value. I don't know if those owners will go for 2014 CTS or ATS. I would go for ATS. Unless the CTS is irresistible.

I agree (that most XTS owners won't care). I would argue that most anyone wouldn't notice, even CTS owners as most people don't drive their cars in such a manner where they would notice the difference.

I am excited by the ATS. Like I said in a different post, if I had bought a sedan I would be having buyer's remorse after having just purchased my car last March, but I made my purchase because I loved the coupe.

On top of that it may be better to let the ATS go through it's teething pains.

I don't like small cars, but the ATS does look sharp...and I'm a red interior whore to boot....
