Never say never. I never thought we'd see a V-series of the CTS let alone a coupe too!

Cadillac has been full of surprises lately. Now if they'd bring out a really big flagship like the Sixteen or Ciel that would be really something!

They came out with the CTS-V in the 2nd year of CTS production. You must've been doing a lot of fretting that '03 season...

White is a very bad color for this car. It emphasizes its height.

Is it just me, or do you think they waited too long to get the XTS on the streets. I was just at the auto show today and I think the ATS looks better and has more of the modern Cadillac look. The XTS looks a lot like a Lincoln from the side. I still think Cadillac is making a huge mistake not offering a V8. Why not have the option and let the customer decide.

This car is a design nightmare. The interior is beautiful tho but the exterior is awful. Just when you think Cadillac is making a comeback they come out with this disaster. They come out with beautiful cars like the cts coupe and the escalade and then they build this thing. Cadillac needs to stop chasing the Europeans and Japanese and start doing what they do best....build big luxurious bold rides something like the...CIEL. Years ago you could spot a Cadillac coming from a mile away and now this thing just looks like a Lexus or any other cookie cutter Japanese car......

How do you figure they're "chasing Europeans" with the XTS? It's big, it's FWD, it's loaded with leather and wood and it will certainly prioritize comfort over performance and handling. The design is intended to be more modern to appeal to people under the age of 70, but it's still not wild or outrageous. It's basically everything the DTS was, minus the unnecessary V8, outdated styling and antique technology.

ATS and CTS-V are shots at the Europeans and buyers who want performance, whereas the XTS is aimed squarely at the opposite demographic. Your post literally makes no sense.
Rest in Peace, J.D. (aka Dirt_Cheap_Fleetwood)

Hey everyone has there own opinions. All I'm saying is Cadillac use to build some of the most beautiful cars in the world and started too again. For example, the cts/cts v coupe... The design is elegant and unique and its a head turner like the Cadillacs of old. The new XTS is just too bland to be a Cadillac to me. Don't get me wrong they did a amazing job with the interior and it has leading technology but they lost it when they designed the exterior.

I agree with BEarle, I have had nine new Cadillac's over the past eighteen years and I am still under 50. I would hardly call the V8 unnecessary in a full size car such as the XTS.

The more I look at the XTS, the front end ain't that bad but Its when you get to the side profile and the height that ruins it. If they made it more low and sleek it would be nice.

    Re: Cadillac XTS4 Pictures

A V8 in a $50+K luxury car is far from unnecessary. Luxury = options. So now, Cadillac = Acura...

Cadillac still wants their aging boomer crowd, the DTS and STS simply didn't fit into their plan as a performance oriented brand.
While I agree with the sentiment, I disagree with your view of the STS. The design team wasn't looking at an upgraded CTS (Catera) or a smaller version of a full-sized car (SDV/DTS). The STS was to be what the Seville never achieved, a mid-sized luxury car with the best performance and electronics GM could deliver. If FWD offered superior performance, you'd still find them at the top rungs of racing (Indy, FIA, etc.) and in the best sportscars.

Unfortunately, the STS took too long to bring to market and didn't live up to the goal of 'state of the art' technologiy. But it far exceeded the CTS and DTS in both performance and technological features. The XTS could have fufilled the potential of the STS but that would have taken vision and confidence that Cadillac has lost.

    Just my two cents...

    Re: Cadillac XTS4 Pictures

The '05 STS got short-changed (by never having a model redo; updated yes, but only evolutionary). What the STS needed to be was not: Seville Touring Sedan, but the original representation of STS: Sports Touring Sedan. And at its introduction, it sure looked like that was Cadillac's original idea/intention; don't know why it got orphaned, so to speak. Did sales fail, and Cadillac abandoned it, or did Cadillac abandon it and sales fell. hmm?
