Cadillac XTS vs Audi A8 (non-L)

    Cadillac XTS
    Passenger Volume (ft³)104.2
    Second Leg Room (in)40
    Front Head Room (in)39
    Track Width, Rear (in)62
    Width, Max w/o mirrors (in)72.9
    Track Width, Front (in)61.7
    Length, Overall (in)202.0
    Wheelbase (in)111.7
    Trunk Volume (ft³)18

    Audi A8
    Passenger Volume (ft³)115.1
    Second Leg Room (in)38.7
    Front Head Room (in)37.2
    Track Width, Rear (in)64.4
    Width, Max w/o mirrors (in)76.7
    Track Width, Front (in)64.7
    Length, Overall (in)202.2
    Wheelbase (in)117.8
    Trunk Volume (ft³)13.2

I guess the added headroom in the XTS is due to the car being taller/higher by a couple of inches. The dimensions I didn't list were basically within a inch of each other. They're pretty close in most areas with the advantage going to the Audi A8 ultimately. Still, not too bad...

I have a feeling the price will put these vehicles in a different class if size doesn't...

Yes, more than likely. Cadillac isn't comparing this car to the Audi A8 - just I am. I think it's a pretty close comparison in some ways. Cadillac still plans on a larger car to compete with vehicles like the A8L and so on...

i take being 2 and 4 inches skinnier (track width and max width, respectively) as an advantage not a disadvantage ...

    Why is that?

Parking spaces are getting smaller and it's only a couple inches we're talking about here. Wider isn't always better.

Plus of they have made it feel like its that wide on the inside what's the difference?

Eh, I don't care about the smaller parking spaces. I'm not really seeing that anyway. And I always park on an end... Doesn't a wider track help a vehicle handle better? As for dimensions, I don't care about the exterior dimensions and much as the interior dimensions...

I'm with you on the parking spaces. When I had my 300 in San Diego, I went to pull into a spot as an Xterra left it...I couldn't fit in.

I would never park in a small spot - even with a small car. Too many people swing their doors open without a care in the world. Small spots don't exist to me.

Well in places like San Diego a regular spot seems to be a compact. Short of downtown, parking is nearly as much of an issue here. I love the XTS but would have to rearrange my garage to fit it in.

In a black and white world, yes. But there are so many tweaks with suspension geometry, that track width is merely one of many variables.

Garages in homes seem to get larger with time. These cars tend to be owned by suburbanites. Urban dwellers take the train.

Id like to know what the turning radius is. Thats a sore spot for most front-drive Cadillacs.

Everyone can do interior volume these days..I mean, a base 3.6 $34K Genesis is pretty much within all those quoted figures too.
