I hear ya. I think this was a rushed model (during bankruptcy) that'll happen to be very high tech. I don't believe the XTS is a good interpretation of where Cadillac is going. This is just something to replace the aging DTS for now...

I think that hideous is the right term for the back of this car.
A sedan should look like a sedan and not a hatchback.
This car gets uglier every time i look at it.
It makes the DTS look pretty and modern.

This will never be able to compete with an Audi a6 for example.

I never bought Cadillacs for quality, because let's face it, GM cars lack quality all over.
But it was the different looks that got me here.

With this hideous design they will loose the only edge they had over the Germans.

Probably my current Cadillacs I own will be the last Cadillacs I own.

And I'm afraid lots of Cadillac customers will switch to another brand, and stay there.

Re: Introducing the 2013 Cadillac XTS

    Wow .....

The first thing that went through my head, looking at the pics, is what someone else commented; from the side, it reminds me a lot of the new Hyundai Sonata. I actually like the new Sonata a lot for what it is, especially in some of the better paint colors they offer it in. But it's no compliment for the new Cadillac sedan to look like one!

IMO, the DTS *sorely* needed replacing because it sticks out in the Cadillac lineup as the one vehicle that looks like the cars they made 20 years ago, instead of anything modern. If THIS is that replacement though? It just reeks of, "We didn't really try very hard."

I really like my CTS Coupe's design, but I can't get into anything else Cadillac offers, at least from a looks/styling standpoint. I thought the XLR looked great, but that and the CTS line are the only cars they've made recently I can appreciate.

read that for a good idea of what the XTS is (and isn't)
they also talk about what else Cadillac has planned (at least what they've told us) for the future

Re: Introducing the 2013 Cadillac XTS

I'm starting to soften on this design. Just watched the YouTube video of the SanFran auto show and the metallic beige (?) car on display looked sharp. Even the back end. Caddies were one of the few cars that really looked good in white. The XTS may be an exception to that.

    for the looking..
IMO..the DTS have much better exteriol compare with the XTS...

The exteriol of the DTS make it looks like it is a Luxury car..expensive and the owner of it got power..

the XTS looks even worst compare with the Huynhdai..I don't know how to explain it..but it lack of Cadillac Style..lack of V8...

we will see the failure of the XTS in the future..it will be the Cadillac Catera in 2012..

Well, i said it years ago when pickups were starting to add styling and inovations, that cars eventually would have to get away from the rounded jellybean look and maybe even bring back some type of rear fins. The new tailights on the XTS are a big step towards this. Not really a fin, but they do stick out enough (from the side view) to look nice. From the back they still look too CTS-ish. Which is not a bad thing, just that we've seen it before. And for that matter the whole car looks like the spawn of a mating between the CTS and a SRX. If this is just an evolutionary step on the way to bigger and better things, then so be it.

I for one still lament the loss of the cornering lamps. I love the way the huge cornering lamps on my DTS light up my turns at night. Damn those bean counters who eliminated them!

I'm looking at a DTS right now. They look antiquated. They don't look like luxury. People only say they look like luxury because they have been around in its current style for well over a decade and everyone knows what they are.

If the DTS was a new car, they'd think it looks like a Ford Fusion.

You say antiquated, I say classic. The extremes of the CTS coupe look really great today. But in 10 years will look silly--both the exterior design as well as the juke box interior. The "traditional" design of the DTS will still look good in 20 years.

The DTS may not be bold, it may not be classic. But it looks classy and sophisticated. I love the rear fascia. the vertical portion of the decklid looks like a big slab. Love it.
