$32b? You'd think with that much cash they could buy a hard working loyal forum moderator an ats-v. You reading this gm?

    Re: Your opinion?

You'd also think they could afford to build a V8 for the XTS....

You made a stupid comment. And while you LOL, you still haven't come up with any facts that the XTS sapped every last drop of Cadillac cash. Make dumb comments, get called out. LOLing doesn't change that...

Well mister knows it all, it's not a stupid comment, it's the well known truth.
Cadillac didn't come up with any new cars all this time, because they where out of money.
They where busy dealing with their bankruptcy instead of building cars.
Every serious competitor rolls out new models every 3-5 years, but not Cadillac.
We had to wait all these years to see the XTS, an average at best design, but by no means
the standard of the world. They don't even have the money to design a new and efficient V8.
They took a bmw 3 series apart to learn a lesson in car building for the ATS.
If it wasn't for the tax payers money, GM and Cadillac would have been history.
And only a complete lack of money can explain the birth of the XTS, which will never ever sell more than a hand full in Europe.
A bigger car market than the US.
If they had the money, they would have spent this money on a talented design team for the XTS, and they would have updated other models.
The XTS is meant to be the cash cow for Cadillac, to generate money for rebranding and rebuilding Cadillac.
Why? Because they are not the wealthy company you think they are. They still have money problems.
And the fact that GM has 32 billion of tax dollars, doesn't mean Cadillac has plenty.
A holding company having money, doesn't mean a subsidiary has plenty as well, even a 2 year old knows this.

It was, and is, a stupid comment. First you say the XTS took ALL of Cadillac's money. Which is wrong. Then you say Cadillac had no money. So, which is it? Make up your mind.

And if you think you just slap together a car like the ATS because they tore apart a 3 series and tada, then you truly don't know a thing...

All y'all need to remember who signs Chris' paycheck.....

Right now this conversation is like talking about all the pro's and con's of a dream date with Julie Roberts: All speculation and imagination since doubt very many of us have actually seen the car and none have driven it.

That being said, I just read a short article in Motor Trend that said the computer system in the new Lincolns has been a big negative, primarily because they let Microsoft build it. Guess nobody at Ford has Windows Vista.... So for Cadillac's CUE, is that also a Microsoft design? Anyone have any insight?

    Re: Your opinion?

Allen Rippy signs my checks ... I get paid a salary so technically it doesn't matter how well the XTS does or doesn't do - I won't benefit from its success.

when people say 'well you work for GM so __________' it kind of pisses me off because you're basically saying that I don't have any opinions and ideas of my own and that I'm a slave to the parent company of our franchise. i can think for myself thank you very much and there's been way too much hating of cadillac going on here ... why can't people at least be optimistic and hopeful and hold back their hate until they actually have something to hate (the XTS isn't even in showrooms for 3-4 months!)

anyway, to answer your question about CUE: it is a custom linux system. The GM engineers are working very hard to not have Ford Sync style problems

It's an ARM11 3 core processor running an open Linux operating system. Completely different from the MS operating system in Sync.

    Re: Your opinion?

Styling is subjective, so anyone that makes a conclusion after saying "I" this or that, renders the conclusion next to worthless. Now if the general consensus of automotive writers (as well as a majority of private opinions) conclude 'the same' then you have an argument.

    Re: Your opinion?

    Automotive writers....

    Whatever.

And if GM has enough money to throw around to determine the majority of public opinion, then they can afford to bring back the Ultra V8...
