Soooo..... like my 2000 Impala? I think that was a large midsize sedan, but was classified as a full size?

I think what it means is we are looking at a replacement closer to the STS than the DTS. Patiently waiting to see what Cadillac comes up with; I like the styling concept, so, we will see what we will see.

The Cadillac XTS will ride on the same platform as the Impala. It'll be a better replacement for the DTS than the STS since it's FWD based.

So the XTS is essentially a W-body?

Yes. The same as the Buick LaCrosse.. The platform will be stretched a bit for the XTS.

That speaks well to reliability (at least, from my experiences). Still not exactly happy about FWD in their largest car (for now, anyway).

We need a G-body revival. Mid-size/near full size, RWD, with both a coupe and sedan.

This car will be a great replacement, a fantastic replacement for the DTS. Thats it, tho. I dont see it stealing sales in a major way from any other competitor. I dont see why it cant have a N*-electric hybrid, tho.

Northstar production ceased at the end of July' 2010; any future V-8's will likely by corporate GM V-8's, i.e. LSx, or later, the upcoming DI (direct injection) V-8's (hopefully these are still in developement).

Sounds like another GM badge engineering job no matter how it's sliced and packaged. FWD just DOESN'T belong here.

Oh for crying out loud, a W-body? Even with a 400HP V6TT, its still going to be hampered by its architecture.

How sure are you about it being W-body? Everything I've read so far has indicated that while it will share its architecture with the Impala, the Impala will be moving to Epsilon II.

Re: The Cadillac XTS is a "near" full size car

W-Body is dead. The current Impala is the last one. Buick LaCrosse is on Epsilon II LWB (Long Wheel Base). Buick Regal is on SWB Epsilon II. The next Malibu and Impala will be on Epsilon II (common knowledge, SWB and LWB respectively). XTS is based of Epsilon II but on a "Premium" version of it because it's a Cadillac. You can expect Cadillac's to have a similar design theme, so the XTS, ATS, and 3rd Gen CTS obviously will be "coherent" So you can call the XTS a Buick LaCrosse based car with an ATS like influence (styling wise) and other Cadillac goodies.

This is all posted various places online if you know where to look.

Well if it's bigger than the LaCrosse by taking the full sized rear seat and making a large front area and trunk, then that's pretty close to full size isn't it? I'm excited.
