I have seen a few Escalades that would walk a stock CTS-V. But I doubt there are many people who want something like that.

    3.6 can't be turbo'd.

    Durability.

The one in the Ciel is a concept motor. It doesn't have to last 200k+ miles under harsh driving conditions.

Rumor is the 3.6 will be replaced by a 3.7L in 2016ish, and that more then likely will be turbo compatible (as all new motors are built up with this ability).

So you are saying the internals are not up to FI.

Interesting claim since the 3.6 has a forged bottom end, piston oil jets, dual knock sensors, etc. Those facts right there tell us that GM knew from the beginning that the 3.6 would be boosted by a turbo or supercharger. I don't see why it can't happen.

    Two reasons:

    Packaging
    Engine is outdated

And by outdated, I mean that by the time you see the 3.0TT, the 3.6 will be near the end of it's life.

How will the 3.6 be outdated; it's less than 10 years old. I sure don't know too much about this engine, but it's not that old, to be relegated to obsolete (which your post seems to imply).

Well, nobody will be seeing the twin turbo 3.0 V6 until late 2013. There are some issues with the engine. If you want to discuss this specifically, see the new thread I created...

By obsolete I mean that GM will have created a better engine. The HF Family isn't going anywhere, however that specific engine is one of the oldest ones in production. GM isn't going to let the family stagnate. When was the 3.6L non-DI introduced? 2006? Expect an update of some sort.

You claimed it wouldn't be forced induction because of durability issues. See post #35.

I fail to see why it couldn't handle it. Seems pretty stout to me, and perfectly capable of handling a turbocharger. In fact, it almost seems like it was designed with forced induction in mind...

I say durability, because of what I've read on the 3.0TT. It wouldn't be delayed if everything was going alright. So while you think it can handle it, based on what I read about the 3.0L having issues with turbo's I can extrapolate that information to the 3.6L. But that's more of my opinion, than fact. So I took it back off the list since you wanted to get technical.

What works on paper, and what works in real life are usually two different things. This is in automotive they run 10 year durability schedules, because sometimes a CAD drawing and simulation doesn't pan out to reality.

Personally, you are free to believe what you want. It doesn't cost you anything to be wrong.

This engine family hasn't had a 3.0 twin turbo. The only 3.0 that's been available (in the LaCrosse, CTS, SRX, Equinox, etc) is NA. Perhaps you are crossing engine families with another 3.0 V6 that has delivered poor results.

The only forced induction engine in this family so far has been the 2.8 used in the Saab 9-3, which is turbocharged. As far as I know, it's delivered fine service with no durability issue related to the boost.
