I'm OK w/FWD or AWD -- but no V8 option = FAIL... Shame -- it looks pretty good....
I agree, but remember that Cadilla is still strapped for cash. A N* wouldnt work anymore, and an LS would need a major drivetrain upgrade, which would seriously increase cost, which would move the price of the XTS into a market where its harder to compete in. Cadillac is smart by knowing where their reputation is right now. The super luxury sedan should come, but I still believe that a higher priced Cadillac wouldnt sell, as that price range cares as much about image as they do about reliability or mpg or tech innovations.
I DO think the hybrid powertrain from the XTS should be in the CTS and especially the SRX RIGHT NOW!!!
It screamed avalon to me when I first saw it but it still looks good. FWD is weak though. If a car is FWD then it should have rear wheel steering IMO . They need to start making the Chinese SLS over here and take the center console out of the back seat. To me the SLS is the best looking thing Cadillac has produced since the Fleetwood was discontinued. The DTS looks nice but it's FWD. I never really liked the CTS and STS and couldn't tell why until I noticed the difference between the B and D bodies. Just like with the old Caprices and Roadmasters those short back doors on the CTS and STS just don't look right to me. The SLS with it's longer wheel base looks a lot better.
Put this up against a 7series or at the other end... Lexus LS460... Its longer than all of them, and IMO looks more stately than the 7 or the LS. The Concept is 203inches, but the wheelbase is short due to them using the Lacrosse's EpII as the "backbone" since the PREMIUM EPSILON is not ready yet. Expect the car to be about 1-2 inches longer in length, but with a slightly longer hood and a 120-124inch wheelbase like the S-Class.
Drivetrain-wise, I think the best this car is going to compete with is the Audi A8.. There's SUPPOSED to be another full-size RWD V8 flagship coming to compete the right way with the 750i and S550 - but who knows if that's ever going to happen..
If they stretch the hood a bit, I would be happier with the car.
On the other hand, if that interior actually makes it into the production car, once I'm sitting in it, I couldn't care less what the outside of it looks like. That is one gorgeous interior. I would invent reasons to run errands just to be inside that car. WOW!
