... the Car and Driver (obvious foreign car bias) August 2006 test of the XLR-V, BMW 650i, Jaguar XK, Mercedes SL550 and Porsche 911 Carrera. The XLR-V blew away the others in every acceleration test (amazingly still came in last overall).
I began laughing halfway through that "last place" writeup. Let's see: We got the car to fishtail a little when we switched the Stabilitrak off. Duh. It's got Stealth Fighter angular bodywork instead of looking like all the other Pacific Rim Blob cars. Duh. The seats are too comfortable. Duh. It's got an expensive, interwoven grille that we're used to seeing only on Bentleys, Maseratis, etc. Duh. It actually dares to be built in America. Duh. The steering was too light at slow speeds [and we couldn't switch the Magnasteer off]. Duh.
From this and the earlier Car & Driver road test, I think that the magazine is simply entrenched in the old saw of "If it's made in the USA, it has to be inferior to anything made in Germany or Japan." Sorry, guys - Wake up and smell the V-series exhaust.
There's just a level of "sophistication" in this car that unbelievable. Hell, I looked all over the place for my parking break release yesterday. Had to get the book out to figure out what was going on with that . What an awesome car. I really really liked my CTS-V, but I really really really like this car.

Right now, I am just in awe. I don't have anything in mind right now. This is what I look like driving right now. I just put my foot into it for a second today (trying to be good with the break-in). Whoa!!!!!! This thing just GOES!
If you feel the need to press down on that pedal to the right, make sure you don't see many cars in front of you!
I LOVE driving that car.
I only road test them if they have an issue that requires it and I don't abuse it, but the ride is so nice.
