Smile Oversize tires will work on the XLR-V!

I decided to take the plunge and ditch the OEM Pirelli Euforia run flats for
brand new non-run flat Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on the XLR-V.
Went with 245/40/19 front and 275/35/19 rear.
It looks much nicer now with a wider, lower profile.
So far so good with no clearance issues detected thus far.

    Hello,
Very cool. Are you running this on the OEM rim? If so how do the side walls feel under load? I would be concerned about the aggressive plus size on those rims as they are only 8+" wide. The approved rim width is 9.0-10" for a 275 tire. Everything might be just fine, but I would want to make sure you were aware of that and make sure you take the time to put some real side load on that combo before you put a lot of trust in that combination.

    Thank you,

Thanks for your response and concern.
Yes, I am using the OEM 19", 8 1/2" width rim.
I'm aware of the recommended rim width of 9"+.
I haven't pushed it that hard yet in the corners.
They seem to be OK so far and the ride and grip is good, though initially the ride was a little hard.

I have a Black XLR-V also. What are the tire diameters of the two sized you used? If they are different, did it affect the ABS, Speedo, Or traction control?
    Thanks

The front diameter is slightly larger than the rear just like OEM.

Everything seems the same except the speedometer is slightly faster (1-2mph).

I've run up to 285/35 rears with 255/40 fronts on my V and autocrossed it with no problem. But I run 18x8.5 on all 4 corners.

Re: Oversize tires will work on the XLR-V!

I have 19x8.5 wheels for the front and 19x10 for the rear. Contemplating the size of tire I will go with. Would like a little more meat on the rears, due to the reverse lip on wheel (to keep the original offset). Thanks for your input.
