    XLR Rendezvous 2006

THIS WAS POSTED YESTERDAY, BUT FOR SOME UNEXPLAINED REASON, DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE FORUM. IT IS BEING RE-POSTED.

The XLR Rendezvous is set for June 10-16,2006 in New Mexico. We have scheduled fun events such as a poker run, parties and a park-n-shine at the hotel or local Cadillac dealership. There is great sightseeing, dining, shopping in New Mexico, and we have several casinos.

In Albuquerque there is Old Town, zoo, aquarium/bio-park, the world's longest tram to the top of the mountain (with restuarant) and of course hot air balloons. We will caravan to famous Santa Fe and Taos for shopping and galleries and will also travel to historic Lincoln (Billy the Kid territory) and visit Carlsbad Caverns.

Since there was insufficient interest, and costly, to obtain use of the race track or for a golf tournament, these have not been set up. We will work on getting a good deal at one of the local golf courses for anyone who would like to golf while they are here. Let me know if you are interested.

We have a sponsor who has offered to donate a golf shirt and baseball cap to the first 25 registrants (so register early). If you would like to purchase a shirt or hat, let me know so we can arrange to get them for you. Shirts will not be available at the event and will need to be pre-ordered and prepaid.

Albuquerque is the hot air balloon capitol of the world and anyone who has not taken a flight doesn't know what they are missing. Anyone who would like to purchase a ride, let me know. As a commerical hot air balloon pilot, I can recommend several good local pilots.

This will be a great event and will have the largest collection of XLRS together since they were introduced. We will have great fun, parties and some nice door prizes.

Get your reservations in early, Due to hotel requirements, April 10th is the cut off date in order to have head counts for events. Make plans now to come to Albuquerque for a great vacation.

Please contact me at jamsto@hotmail.com and I will forward you all the information and registration form. You can also contact me by mail at:
834 Sagebrush Dr. Corrales, NM 87048

Hope to see all XLR owners at the event. Jim Stokes

Just go hit up ABQ dragway on one of the T&T or grudge racing nights.

    Jim,

What kind of response have you gotten so far? I usually spend some time in Silver City in the summer but change is good.

I am starting to get registrations in. We have Hans from Germany flying in and driving out with an XLR-V and its new owner in Calif. We have a registration in from Fla. Hope you can make it. We are going to visit Santa Fe and Taos and end up in Carlsbad. It wouldn't be difficult to travel over to Silver City before or after the event.
