    XLR internal diagnostics

    Hi,
I recently purchased a 2004 XLR. In the past I have been able to access all my cadillac diagnostics by simultaneously depressing the Climate Control "off" and "temperature up" buttons. Tried this with the XLR doesn't work. Can anyone tell me how to access the XLR's diagnostics.

    Re: XLR internal diagnostics

It requires the use of a scan tool, plus a special module called a "CANdi" module to handle the new communication busses used on XLR.
It has a system called GMLAN on it that is many times faster than Class 2, but it also has a class 2 bus on it.
There are no provisions for diagnostics on the fly.
I don't care much for it either, but on most of the newer stuff this feature is being eliminated, including CTS, STS, DTS and SRX. Escalade never had it.
It's nice not having to get the scan tool, but it looks like those days are gone.

I don't know of many ways to buy them, but the Tech 2 and the CANdi module together are about $3,000.
I don't even have my own because of the price. I'd love to have my own but have never stepped up with that kind of scratch.
Happy New Year right back atcha'
