Question 6spd auto in '06 XLR?

Will the '06 XLR get the new 6spd auto? The C6 and XLR-V will have the new transmission, and I'm hoping the XLR will as well.

According to the online GM ordering guide--NO.

You're right about the Vette and XLR-V, but I guess they just didn't feel it necessary to give the regular XLR another gear.

The new heavy duty 6L80-E will only be in STS-V, XLR-V and Corvette.
The regular XLR will retain the use of the 5L50-E.

I don't mean to drag up old topics but I am new here and looking around.

    Hi Vrocks,
since you bought your new 06 XLR you know it has the 5 speed automatic.
I have my XLR now for 14 months and this tranny works great.
Maybe you should have wait three more months for the V, it comes with a 6 speed auto.
Have a nice weekend and take out your new XLR

The 5spd in the XLR is the smoothest transmission that I've ever felt.
I'll definitely take a look at the XLR-V (in about 2 years). Although I might have a chance to test drive one in the next couple of months.

Also, I saw that you took your XLR up to 172 with the factory exhaust! I'll never get to that speed on American roads but the car rolls through 90mph like it's nothing. I only took her to 3/4 throttle for a few seconds to get there, so I imagine it'll be nearly as fast as my C5 4spd was once it's broken in.

I'd personally like to see a 6-speed manual option.

Don't hold your breath. Outside of the CTS-V when was the last time you saw a Cadillac with a manual transmission?

    Hi Vrocks,
my XLR isn`t as fast as the C5 Vette was, but almost.
    I`ve owned a 98 coupe 4 auto/a 01 vert 4 auto/and a 02 vert 6 speed and they had in the range from 200 kph(about 120 mph) up to 260-280 kph (about 160 - 170 mph) a stronger acceleration.
But still I`m very happy with my XLR, especially since I got my Corsa-exhaust on. This system gives a little extra hp and the sound is great.

A manual transmission is standard in the regular CTS as well.

    Hi Harry,
Since you like to add to the XLR's performance are you going to look at putting the XLR-V's air filters or intake system on your XLR? I heard the X and S V's use a new filtration technology that's better than anytihng on the market.

I'm going to see if it's compatible in terms of fitting, if it is and the price isn't crazy I'm going to look into it. I know the N* loves to rev so better airflow should definitely help this engine up top.

    Hi Vrocks,
I think the air filter of the V is different, I know there is already a K&N but I´ll see.

I would be surprised if the '07 XLR didn't get a 6 speed auto. The '07 Saturn Aura will have one.
