    Antenna bump on trunklid

    Hello all,
I've noticed that some years have the antenna hump and others don't. Is it just for satellite radio or is it for OnStar also? Do people relocate these to some other location? It looks alot better without it.

    Thanks,
    Kenwood

    Re: Antenna bump on trunklid

The trunk-mounted wart found on the earlier model year XLRs is for XM only. Onstar uses a seperate antenna mounted to the windshield near the rearview mirror. The wart antenna was the only option for the XLR. Many vehicles came with the S-band receiver and associated cabling installed, (between the seats, under the Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist module) and the antenna in a box in the trunk. The receiver is visible inside the trunk if you look forward.

A low visiblity, aftermarket antenna with magnetic base can be mounted on the metal speaker on the dash and connected to the receiver. I posted a procedure here awhile back. Works great and doesn't disturb the clean lines of the XLR.
