It is what it is. The GUI is embedded in the unit's firmware, ostensibly to protect GM from liability. Eventually, I'll have to remove the "infotainment" system and install something from the 21st century that can be upgraded. I think GM did a really good job with the XLR with the excepton of the afore-mentioned system. Compare the Nav system with a $200 Garmin unit and you'll quickly see there is no comparison.
