Re: XLR Performance Exhaust System

Dr. Design, I have an 05 XLR and have already made some external changes (mesh grill, black wheels, dark tint) and would really like to focus on improving the performance now.

Realistically, what are my options to get the most increase in hp and torque (without buying a V or a Z06!) It's a shame that there doesn't seem to more readily-available performance options for the standard XLR.

Thanks in advance for your time,
Danno

Re: XLR Performance Exhaust System

Hello,
Well given what is currently available for the XLR at this time. I would say the most you are going to get out of that vehicle with intake, plugs, and exhaust, is another 30-40HP. We are developing mid length headers for that application. You will see another 20HP and an increase in torque. So I would say in an all motor application you would be looking at 360-375 BHP. If you are looking to make the car faster, we have also done a few rear end gear swaps. This will allow the vehicle to accelerate much quicker.

Please let us know if there are any other questions.
Thank you,

Dr. Design

Re: XLR Performance Exhaust System

Thanks for your info so far. Can you tell me what kind of gains might be realized using D3's ECU Box on the regular XLR?

Thanks,
Danno

Re: XLR Performance Exhaust System

Unfortunately our plug n play box is not available for the Non V-series XLR or STS models at this time. Through Dyno Testing, we have actually found the tune on the factory XLR is pretty good with the Exhaust and Intake sytems and doesn't require any a/f adjustments. Thank you.
