Can this be done with the factory parts? I just bought a 2006 XLR and just ordered the factory upper Grille to convert but did not order the lower one also. I think I may be missing something about the fit so I did not order the lower one yet. The aftermarket one only covers the middle section of the lower grille and I do not like the look. Also, I do not see that anyone purchased the upper V grille from GM parts for the regular XLR, only the aftermarket one. Is there a problem with fitting the GM Factory part to the regular XLR? I ordered it and now wonder if it was the right thing. Any hints on installation? |

On a standard XLR the full-width grill won't fit do to the radar sensors. |

If you change it from the plastic lens to the steel grille for looks your cruise control will be worthless. |

Everyone else seems to have the aftermarket grille. |

It won't affect anything like the lower grille would.
You have to remove the front fascia to replace that, I have removed a couple of an XLR but never had to take one off of a V. |

Do you know if there is any difference between the GM factory V grille and the aftermarket E&G V grille? I have read many of your posts and really appreciate your support of this forum. I read you had some difficulty installing the E&G V grille do you have any tips for me to make this install easy? |

I have a tool that may work it is an upholstery tool which is a screwdriver with a V to remove trim. |

you followed my posts pretty well! Yes, I`ve had a hard time to get the standard grille out, went to a body shop and they offered me wo choices
1. to brake the lower clips of the old grille
2. to not brake them but then the front bumper have to be taked off.
I decided to brake the clips and the grille was out in 3 minutes.
Installing of the new one was about 30 minutes and no problems there!
The only difference is, the standard V grille got the wreath and crest right on the mesh - the E&G grille requires the wreath and crest of the old grille and it sticks on a black plate, you can see on my photo.
I hope I could help

I see in the photos your calipers are red - did you use a special paint? |

What do you think about the original XLR V wheels on my car?

I tend to like to add authentic GM parts to my GM cars so that is a very good change in my opinion. I know they are painted but look very bright. I have not seen an XLR V up close yet. Are they metallic? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
