Question about XLR

If you do a soft launch with the XLR and keep the pedal down, will it spin the wheels on the shift from first to second?

Re: Question about XLR

Soft launches do not spin tires (hence the term: soft launch.) A hard launch under certain conditions (traction control disabled) may give a quick chip in the base XLR. The XLR-V will burn rubber quite nicely though.

Yes I know, I was asking if you don't do a hard launch and don't spin the tires on launch but keep the throttle down, will the shift from first to second from the auto tranny spin the wheels? To put it another way, if you were in a drag race would you want to lift the throttle during the shift? I'm asking about the XLR, not the XLR-V.

Re: Question about XLR

Base XLR is only 320HP and will not churp the tires going into second.

Re: Question about XLR

Most of these modern cars have dirve by wire throttle control and engine torque management to make transmission shifts seamless and reduce wear on driveline components. The computer modifies timing advance, throttle, etc. for a split second during shifts to help prevent things such as chirping tires and neck snapping shifts without any sacrifice of performance.
