I remember when they said the CTS V is coming, it came but only for motor-magazins-tests and later on the sold about 10 as used vehicles.
Did you know I bought a new STS on Dec. 21. ?

Apart from being amazed from what I seen in person (and the euro version is a little nicer than the standard US version ), I have no driving experience with the STS.
CTS-V are rare too in Europe. There are only about 100 and they too have been test driven. |

the STS V8 is a great Autobahn-runner, had it up to 276 kph (171 mph) and you are right, the taillights are nicer than the US model but most of all I like the Brembo-brakes which are the same as on CTS V and STS V.
Now to a bad point, I just brought it today to my dealer because there`s a oil leak where the engine and transmission is bolted together. The have to take the tranny out to see which gasket leaks.
here two pics http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/DSC00001.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...r/DSC00002.jpg
GM-Europe didn`t brought about 100 CTS V`s to Europe, only about 10!!!!
Have a nice week.

Too bad you have to go through repairs so soon! Maybe you should break it in before you go top speed?
Anyway, hope you get your STS back soon!
Only 10 CTS-V's? Damn, I almost bought one! But i just don't trust them that much, since the test drivers didn't really drove them with care. The one I saw needed a lot of scratches to be repainted... |

The one I saw needed a lot of scratches to be repainted... | I did a very good brake-in and made the first Autobahn high-speed run when I had about 1000 km (600 miles) on it. I use to do this with all the new cars I bought!
I test drove the CTS V and this car runs great, I just call it the "four door Vette" but as you said, they was only used from GM available
Tomorrow I`ll stop by my dealer to see what`s going on with my STS.

Eldo, it`s the shaft seal (simmerring) and they should have it by friday, so if it works this way I will have my car back on monday evening. I`ll let you know!

One big point goes to the export models because they are not speed limited (you know our Autobahns ). My friends XLR V in Ca. goes up to 158 mph, we had it up couple of times. The top end of my XLR is 282 kph (175 mph) and the fastest I`ve had my STS was 276 kph ( 171 mph).

Harry | Well, you're still lucky it is under warranty and it didn't cause any more damage.
Putting V-badges on non-V's is not appreciated by everyone |

I had the exact same oil leak on my 2005 at 5,000 miles, oil was showing up in the same place on the transmission. They had to pull the transmission. It's a one piece rear main oil seal. They had it replaced in several days, but unfortunately that was not the only leak on mine. They finally got the other leaks fixed though. I just got it back last week.

Steven | Steven,
the transmission is out from the car and they told me it`s the shaft seal, we call it in german "simmerring" and it should be in by tomorrow. (delivered)
If this is right they will returne me the car fixed by monday evening. I think it was a defected seal from new because I observed it with only 900 km (about 550 miles) on it.
What other leaks did you had on your STS?
Have a nice day
