| | | Re: stock CTS-v vs modded SHO When I still owned my '92 and before I decided to s/c it, I attended the '99 National SHO Convention in Atlanta. I knew the previous owner of the Turbo SHO.
And as a fairly new mod, on a 98 degree day, 1000 ft above sea level and on street tires, I saw that thing spin and spin and spin its tires even more AND STILL turn in a mid 13 sec at 109mph.
That was before TurboSHO invested in increasing boost, improving the suspension and getting better rubber. And if you ever thought our Vs were hard to launch, try dragging a 400hp+ FWD car.
And there IS a video. My brother was in the car and he had the camera. |

| | | Re: stock CTS-v vs modded SHO I've owned a SHO, own a V and frequent both this forum and SHOforum equally. A tall tale? No. Unless you don't believe me then I guess you'd have to question whether I even own a V. I guess I just paid someone to take that picture of "a" V on Beartooth Pass in the Rockies. And I'm just hijacking someone else's info on wheelhop issues, oil temp quandries and the feel of autocrossing a V.
By the lack of response to my posts, I guess many must feel that way. Is it thebigjimsho forum name? I owned a SHO for years, have it for an aol name and my name on SHOforum. It's me.
That video exists unless my brother messed up in recording. Believe me, I'd rather edge out any SHO after working my ass off for nearly a year, selling the SHO AND trading in my Accord to pay for a V. But there are many supercharged SHOs getting well over 400hp TO THE WHEELS. There are many videos floating around of track prepped SHOs mingling with some high-priced exotics......and beating some. Tim has 1 of maybe 2 FI SHOs that are turbos. His dyno numbers are legit. The race is legit. If he gets the time to have the video hosted and running, you'll see. Don't believe me if you choose. It's up to you.
And I would love to see the video too. |

| | | Re: stock CTS-v vs modded SHO Guys, Guys....
If you want to get into turbo cars that will put a hurting on both SHO's and the V's, pick yourself up a 1986 or 1987 Buick Turbo Regal (aka - Grand National). I own one V and one Buick GN. The GN is one of the best engineered perfomance cars the General ever made. It runs 11.9 on an unopened motor and there are a few guys in my Buick club running 11.5's (I hope to get there before the fall is over).
Now granted, if you have to stop or turn the car, you will have your hands full. But, flat out straight line performance is awesome. 17 year old technology and a 6 cylinder to boot...Pins you to the seat with slicks or wins the burn-out contests wherever you go, on street tires.
I love the V but when it is time to go to the track, I take the GN...
And it looks 10 times better then a Ferd.. |

| | | Re: stock CTS-v vs modded SHO what was the point of this?? two people bragging about fords on a cadillac forum?? why?? not saying your lying, but without a video, i don't think anyone cares. and if you put as much money into aftermarket parts for the v, it would be much better than the equivelant sho, and if not, at least you'd be able to pick up 3 ladies and take them to a 5 star restaurant without looking out of place :coolgleam |

| | | Re: stock CTS-v vs modded SHO Hey guys!
You won't believe what happened last night. I blew away a V!
He was close and hung with me for a while, but I edged him out at top end.
Must be my TonyA system on my CTS...
Hold on. I got a video too that I will post soon. |

| | | Re: stock CTS-v vs modded SHO The video is done (and has been for a while) I have two versions, a high res (26MB) and a low res (6MB). I just can not get anyone to host it. I apologize for not having it up already, but I have no hosting capabilities, and my usual helpers have not responded to my e-mails and messages. Sorry. If anyone can host let me know. I can not send through e-mail, but I can upload the vid directly. Heck, I would even send a CD of it in the mail to someone if that is what it takes. I really want to get it hosted, it is a pretty nice vid. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
