Chevy: 2004 SSR vs. 2005 SSR

I was over at chevy's website, and it appears the SSR retro pickup underwent some major improvements: 390hp/405lbft 6L LS2 V8, IRS, and new 6-sp. Are there any other changes? Also, I remember reading about how sluggish and untolerable the acceleration and ride was when first introduced. Was the 2004 on a truck chassis? solid rear axle w/ leaf springs?

Re: Chevy: 2004 SSR vs. 2005 SSR

Cadillac needs to come out with a SSR-V variant.

Inline 8 based on the Vortec 4200, bring Cadillac back to its roots!

And then, drop the world a bombshell, the V-16.....

A pair of 8 cyl based 4200's (5600??) joined at the hips! Vortec 11200!

ok ok, the drugs have worn off now.... shutting up.....

Re: Chevy: 2004 SSR vs. 2005 SSR

Cadillac doesn't need another truck.

As for the SSR:
The LS2 finally puts out the 'oomph' it should have had from day one. I still see it only lasting a few years though. Does anyone remember seeing the concept it was based on? That would have been a hit. The production version is one of those few cars that actually look better in pictures than it does in person.

At least now it will justify the price tag it carries (or did they change that too?)...

Lets just put it this way, in any form, the ssr kicks ass. What is better than a CVT pickup truck?

Re: Chevy: 2004 SSR vs. 2005 SSR

The SSR is retarded. The bed's small for a truck, making it pretty useless. The cab is also too small, even for a truck. So it looks retro, but that's the only thing it has going for it (if you can even consider that "going for it").

Re: Chevy: 2004 SSR vs. 2005 SSR

I don't like them either. For 70k (Cdn pricing) you don't even get a hood that stays up, you get a hood prop! Remember those? Our 1980 Pontiac has a stupid hood prop, and I can't count the times my friends tried to close the hood and bent the stupid thing. Everytime I see one I keep thinking "that joker could have got a DTS for the same price."

For a retro vehicle, I'd much rather have a new T-Bird, even if it doesn't have the same hp.
