Even better... bring on the old Fleetwood Brougham and the Fleetwood Seventy-Five Sedan and Limo series. Those were true Cadillacs in every way (especially external and internal dimensions).

Cadillac is not accepted as a tier 1 luxury brand worldwide. For that matter, not even in N.America. They need to keep working their way back up to that level. Acura is trying to do the same thing. The difference being that Cadillac has been there before, and itll be eaasier to get back. The new CTS and i bet the new SRX will do a lot to get Cadillac back with the top players (MB/BMW/Lexus)

Why not? In 1970's or 60's, the magazines are comparing Mercury to Mercedes-Benz...Pay attention here, Mercury!!! They didnt even assume to compare it with Lincoln. And also, people are paying to VW Passat a lot of money that can buy Mercedes C class or 3 series too in my country. Also ın USA, Touareg prices are not low. If people paid 100.000$ for Phaeton in the past, the same people will pay Cadillac more of that.

The 70's were a long time ago. And what happened then really has no bearing on how Cadillac does right now. Also, the 3 series/C-class market is very different then the large luxury sedan market. Infiniti broke into the 3 series market alot faster and more successfully then Lexus broke into the S-class market.

The first year the Phaeton was in N.America, VW sold about 1500 units. The 2nd year they sold half that many. The car was a failure. Mercedes was selling 1000+ S-class' every month. Cadillac can't afford to spend a tonne of R/D on a car that may or may not go over well. Theyd be better off spending money on a smaller sedan, a smaller convertible, or an all electric sedan....
