    CUE - A discussion thread

I understand the folks here at Cadillac Forums are looking into possibly creating an official CUE discussion thread where owners can get help in "tweaking" and learning about this fantastic new technology.

Hope I am not jumping the gun starting this thread early, but really, I'm like most every guy out there that likes learning without reading manuals -- and I have quite a few questions and I'm impatient to get answers from knowledgeable members.

(And actually, I did read the manual but did not readily find answers)

If the Moderators here would like to import this thread into a much larger centralized thread, I would welcome such.

In the meantime, here are my questions....

    1. It appears, from some videos I have seen on YouTube, that cell phone numbers can be stored as favorites on the home screen. I have not been able to figure out how to do that from the contacts list. Can anyone give advice on that?

    2. Have stored all my SiriusXM favorites across several pages of the stored lists. However, they show up as channel numbers which don't really help. I would rather that the presets show the name of the channel with perhaps the actual logo. Is there any way to get, say CHANNEL 10 to show up as THE PULSE?

    3. Have very little experience with HD radio. This is my first HD Radio package. Are most of the FM stations I am used to automatically upgraded to HD radio, or is the HD radio an alternate version of that FM station whereas I have a normal 92.3 FM and a 92.3 FM HD, both with different music selections?

Any other cool things you have stored in your CUE Favorites list?

The only downside to playing with CUE and figuring it all out is that you don't have too much time to do it before the car shuts down. You need to burn fuel to keep the car and the accessory power running long enough to really learn and play with this technology.

Can't you hold the Engine Start button down for five seconds to turn the car into Run mode without the engine? My 2010 will do it.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour? '14 Cadillac ATS Performance 3.6L AWD in Phantom Grey Metallic and Morello Red Interior -ARRIVED!!

Yes you can do that... only takes a second to quickly hit the start button to put it on acc. mode, too much longer and you might end up starting the vehicle again. I also believe you may end up losing the screen you were working in when you do that. ??? I will have to double check that the next time I want to go through the menus in that mode to see what happens.

EDIT: Yes you will lose the screen you were working on when the vehicle powers down. You will have to start over again.

Oh. Did not know that. You guys have just taught me something.

Generally, I do a quick push to go into Accessory mode, but it only stays active for about 10 minutes before shutting down.

I am surprised there is an override method that would allow you to potentially drain the battery by keeping accessories active for longer -- but hey -- I am going to try it now.

Hopefully someone will have answers to my CUE questions.

    Thanks, as always, guys.

    Hi there -

Unfortuantely, we do not offer that current option for our automobile radios. If you would like a full channel guide, here's a link: http://www.siriusxm.com/channellineup We appreciate the feedback and we will be happy to send your request along to our engineers.

    Thanks,

The radio in my 2011 Luxury (no navigation) displays the channel name next to the channel number on XM. And when I turn the dial to tune XM it shows a scrolling list of the channel numbers and names in numerical order.

Re: Official CUE & A discussion thread

Okay, so I met with a CUE specialist at my dealership today and learned a few things....

    1. Cell phone numbers/names cannot be set on your favorites screen. This is sort of odd, because there are CUE tutorial videos that show contact names across the favorites menu.

    2. While it is true you can reference a scrolling list of XM channel names next to their respective numbers, there is no way that you can set SiriusXM favorites across the menu and have the station names/logos automatically show up. What you need to do is the following...

    a. Since your SiriusXM favorites will be stored as XM23, XM24, etc. you must go to the HOME SCREEN -> SETTINGS -> RADIO and MANAGE FAVORITES. From there you have to go through the daunting task of renaming every single station in your preset. You can do this with a virtual keyboard that will appear on your screen.

This process is not particularly fun, nor easy. It takes a bit of time to get used to the keyboard, particularly managing small and capital letters. Also, if you have several favorites menu screens, it will always default back to the first screen after an edit. This means you may have to swipe one or many times back to the original favorites screen you were working on after an edit is completed.

    3. If you use an iPod, beware of a problem involving PLAYLISTS. My unit would not play the properly selected song within a playlist. Instead, it would play a different song within that playlist. The CUE specialist told me it may have something to do with the ways the songs are encoded, but that sort of sounds like a cop-out excuse. The CUE unit should work flawlessly with an Apple device, knowing how it codes it songs. After all, the iPod is the most popular music device out there.

So, for the moment, color me a bit disappointed after being very enthusiastic about the CUE system. It has some definite bugs that need to be ironed out.

There is a CUE HOTLINE to ask questions. I was given a card for it. I will post the number here tomorrow as I don't have it on me.

Re: Official CUE & A discussion thread

I called Cadillac's 1-800-458-8006 number and got an option to talk directly to someone who deals with the new Cadillac CUE. After talking to a CUE Help advisor I was told that my iPhone 5 might be experiencing a connectivity issue for I seem to have some problems trying to call directly from my contact list. He said that the 4s was ok but not the new iPhone 5. Is there anyone with an iPhone 5 that is not able to call directly from their contact lists? The CUE helper then mentioned that Cadillac & Apple were working on that particular iPhone 5 issue.

I then asked him about the "MyCadillac" App that when I re-downloaded it to use with my 2013 SRX the new App doesn't show the 13 SRX being available even though it shows the new XTS and the ATS. Once again, he advised me that they were working on a revised update App that he believes should be out very soon.

The number he gave me if I wanted to call the CUE Help advisor again was 1-866-790-5600 yes, different than the number I used to reach him. I wonder if this number the CUE rep gave me is the same number that NJRondo got a hold of?

This is not true! I have stored phone numbers as favorites. In fact, you can store addresses as well as the entire contact info as a favorite. They show up in the favorites list as the contact name. Maybe, as in your XM editing example, you can edit the names to add a descriptive name such as "NAME - WORK" or "NAME - HOME ADDR"

Well, listen, I appreciate you telling me this but would appreciate it more if you could tell me HOW.

Are we talking about a 2013 CUE system? Because the CUE representative and I could not figure out how to make cell phone contact names favorites. When you go into the phone contacts menu there isn't even an option and the favorites bar doesn't even appear there.

If you can provide step-by-step directions it would help considerably.

From memory it works like this:

From the home screen, touch phone and then touch contacts.

To store the entire contact as a favorite, do not select a particular contact. Bring up the favorites bar and touch and hold a slot in the bar. The system asks for a contact to store. Touch the contact name in the list.

To store a phone number or address, after bringing up your contact list, select a contact. Then bring up the favorites bar and touch and hold a slot. The system asks what to store. Touch a phone number or address.

    Done.

Your memory is pretty good and the great news is...it worked.

...though not exactly as your memory dictated, but hey, it's from memory.

Actually, the favorites bar would not come into play when I was in contacts.

It did, however, when I got to the dialpad screen. I simply typed in a phone number then hit one of the blank boxes on the favorites, and that number was stored.

So, a HUGE thanks to you for getting the process started. Nice to see this can be done.

Now to get the iPod problem worked out, and I am set.

Favorites will come up by swiping in an upward motion from the bottom of the screen toward the top. Works for me.

Something to consider is that not all Cadillac employees that work at the dealerships are totally knowledgeable on every issue. I have already run into that with service bulletins that they were not familiar with and other items that we have discussed here on this forum like the tranny reprogram program to keep the down shifts to a minimum.

    I'll say.

More knowledge from people in this thread than the CUE rep at the dealership I dealt with.

    Sad.
