    Lightbulb CUE phenomenon

As I was out driving SilverFox (Platinum XTS) yesterday a couple of odd things occurred. I was cruising along around the 70 mph speed limit and the AC started increasing the fan speed and changing the temperature. At first I thought OK, just reacting to changes in the cabin. Next the audio changed to almost full volume. Then when I looked over at the CUE I noticed the passenger seat heater had come on at full temp. Now I was alone in the car so no one else was changing anything. Then I figured it out. I had placed my Escort radar a bit higher on the windshield than normal and the cord to the 12 volt was randomly coming into contact with the CUE and making all of the above changes. I pulled over and moved the radar so the cord was clear of the CUE and had no further issues. Just thought I'd post this in case others place their radar detectors in similar positions and want to avoid the problem.

Well, the cord did but a gloved hand doesn't. LOL. Looking forward getting my XTS, hopefully next month, as I ordered the exact same on Aug 31, you "kipsts" have. Plus the adoptive cruise control which my dealer is presently looking into, as I was told in August that if would be on the car (Canada), but after what I have read hear I was doubtful and allerted them.

@ kipsts: Thanks. The only thing my wife doesn't like are the "greenish" portion of the interior. Not sure how much that shows up.

You may have seen my frustration about that Driver Assistance Package issue for which I new have to pay extra, nevermind being told upon signing (when it was Standard) that it was included. May be in your area next Aug/Sep as we have to attend a wedding in SF and will drive to also do some sightseeing.

At night it really is a beautiful interior. You should have your wife in the car at night with the soft LEDs. Let me know if you swing by Vegas.

Great - so when I finally can pick up the car, may be I should do it late in the afternoon, so the first time she will see it will be in the dark. As to Vegas, will do when I have the timing.

Just wanted to say I'm pleased you're looking into an XTS soon, CDN! While I unfortunately don't have access to the business policies and procedures of companies outside the United States, I am happy to locate the Customer Service team nearest you. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact GM of Canada at 800-263-3777; their agents are available at M-F 7:30am - 11:30pm, Sat 7:30am - 6:00 EST.

    Re: CUE phenomenon

@ Katie - Thanks will keep that in mind. Very much appreciated. I have already agreed with the Salesman that I will pay for the NOW optional Driver Assistance package as I don't wish to get him into any trouble by having signed on the brochure that that item was included on my order ats the then Standard Price. I assume there was a misunderstanding between him and GM as from a document I had seen recently that option was not on it. I'm told they have now added it. Been dealing with that dealership since 1995, (the year I became a pensioner) and this is the 5th new car I have purchased from them and their Service Department is great. Had other GM (and other) cars before when living all over Canada.

Perhaps in the meantime you could do me a favour.

I understand Cadillac places various (particularly CUE training issues) on the iPod which is being delivered with a new XTS in the US. GM Canada does not provide any iPods, but I have an iPod3 since May this year. I would assume Cadillac has that info they preload on the iPods somewhere, hopefully available for downloads. Can you look into that and let me know how I can get such? Then I can start studying now and by the time I pick up my Platinum sometime next year I have a head start (and probably know more that my salesperson who has little chance trying anything as my dealer has only receive a few Luxury models which are gone the next day LOL) I did find and downloaded the manual and one small one for CUE (for ATS&XTS) but that latter one seems to be just a sub-manual relative to Infotainment.

A suggestion for the Manual when next updating it: On the section for customer programming those numerous functions, it would have been nice it the Cadillac "default" setting would have been highlighted. BTW, I tried to extract that section in order to generate a separate PDF file so that, rather than marking up the manual, I could indicate on it any changes made for ready reference and would have posted it for others. However, that PDF file is protected and encrypted and cannot be edited so I was unable to extract anything.

In this thread, you will find instructions by a couple of people for downloading the appropriate apps from Apple onto your iPad: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...-only-one.html

I suggest reading the entire thread and then deciding which option you want to use. Good luck!

    Re: CUE phenomenon

Glad to hear you have such a great relationship with your dealer, CDN XTS! I apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but since I have limited access to materials for customers residing outside the United States, I do recommend consulting with your dealer and GM of Canada regarding your iPod concerns. I see rayle has also provided helpful feedback, which demonstrates why forums such as these are so great!

    Re: CUE phenomenon

    @rayle & Katie. Thanks.

Used iTunes and downloaded all aplications and then synced to iPad. Based on info looked like McCadillac app 1.7.1 was for ATS etc. (no XTS, but when starting it on my iPad, it did have XTS listed for selection. The Remote link returns a "vehicle is currently not supported". (i.e. my 03 STS is presently the only car registered on OnStar seems to be not supported and I don't have the XTS yet. Anyway, the main app I was interested in was CUE and it worked great.

Also contacted the Canadian Customer Service via E-mail to have them confirm that my order now includes a listing for a) the correct external and internal colors (was a snafu at dealership) and b) the now optional Driver Assistance Package, just in case there was another snafu at dealership. Now waiting for a reply.
