Just wondering if you guys were still into going fast.
If so, what are you guys doing to get there? Anyone doing more than the usual bolt on stuff? If so, please share! Let's see something people haven't done yet!
Enjoying the car as is. These are unicorns, rare enough as is and perform damn well out of the box. For me no reason to mod it out for max HP, cars have more power than the drive-train can normally put down anyway, even with TC. Things like Diff bushings, CAI yeah, but nothing beyond that, plus for me she is my daily driver so reliability and not being down for mods is more important.
If I wanted max performance/power there are plenty of CTSV V1 or even one of the Holden imports like the G8. Start with the bigger displacement and then turn the screws on it will result in much higher performance for less $ than our heavy 4.4l powered rigs.
Yep I'm definitely still into going fast. Just not in a slow car LOL.I love the Sts V it's a moderately fast great cruising car. But it's certainly no race car. So it was time to stop dumping money into a car that was never going to be fast. See the videos below. My old Sts the fastest documented one that I know of. 12.1@114 with over 5k in parts and tuning. And my vagon with manual transmission. 10.85@135 with 3k invested in parts and tuning. http://youtu.be/WZuFaRixLOU http://youtu.be/hlAoNZVFmss
I'm anxiously awaiting results from your other thread before I go much further. I will say that you motivated me to pick up a spare blower off ebay to port. Planning on using your pics as a guide and picking up a TimmyC lower to go w my current bolt-ons. Don't have the time/money right now to be a guinea pig for any "new" mods. So go ahead and try things out and let us know!
I've got a lower and the right gates belt that I might be willing to part with.
This dyno thing is just killing me. The tuners here are seriously scared of this car it seems like. Nobody in the Chicago area is willing to touch it.
I switched my tr-6's gapped at .030 over to tr-7ix's and left the gap at .035 and I've got blow out now... Thought i might be able to get by with a wider gap switching over to iridiums but nope. I may just go back to the tr-6's vs re-gapping the tr-7ix's...
I also want to try the kenne bell boost a spark. It seems like snake oil but not being able to run a .035 gap is kind of ridiculous. I think our coils are maybe a little on the weak side.
How much boost are you making that you're blowing out the spark. I ran tr-7s all the way to 21psi and never had an issue. Gaped at 32.
As for my dragstrip launches that's for me to know and you to find out. LOL. I definitely had a special technique to get the car to go that fast. But I'm not telling. My 08 Stsv still runs consistent 12.5 @110. Best of 12.3. And makes way less power than my 06 did. So the 06 had a 11.8/11.9 in it if the blower would have stayed together for longer than four runs.

so what I think the best mod for our cars will be is e85. If somebody can come up with an E 85 flex fuel kit wait for my CTS V. I think that would be the ticket. It makes 40-50 hp at the tire on my Ctsv. So on an STsv I might be 20/30 hp. Plus the cooling effect to go with it. It's a win win. I have zero interest in making my car any faster or I would get Jeremy to retune it and put a tank in and see what difference it made. But to one of you guys that do your own tuning if you have the e 85 available I would give it a shot.

Like I said, I left them at .035. If you are running 21 psi on .032, I should have been able to get by on .035. I will have to close the gap now obviously.
Soon as I get mine dialed in, we are going to have to run our sts's and see how they compare
The e85 thing though, I wonder how that would work through a direct port meth kit. It would be easier than going through the full conversion setup I would think
I'm still interested in performance, that is why I did this:
and today added this:
P.S. I took the pic before I hooked up the PCV Hose, so that is why it is missing.
Can't add my pulley system until I get injectors. I was a 92% duty cycle on the stock injectors after just adding the intake and that wasn't even WOT it was like 88% throttle...
Now my new starting point was my ending point in the STS-V as far as power goes. Or damn close. So yeah, I'm still interested in performance.
I sold my pearl white 2012 4 door two days after buying it. Felt cheap. Didn't like the all the plastic on the interior. Traded it for an escalade. But to each their own.
And you don't think the escalade feels cheap? I think it's one of the cheapest made Cadillacs ever. Plastic everywhere you look in touch. I would much prefer to just have a Tahoe and save the money but I wanted the 6.2 L engine. And Denalis just as expensive as an Escalade. But my Ctsv is not near as nice as my Stsv but from the performance standpoint it blows it out of the water. 10.8 in a manual wagon. It would be 9.8 in a auto. 819 hp and 878 Tq. Can't beat that with a stick for 3-4 k in parts/ labor.

The whole point of this thread was to get people motivated. So that maybe we can match the performance of the cts-v. If I wanted to know how to make a cts-v faster, I would buy another one, then join the cts-v forum. But thanks for the help.
With Tim's current list of available parts I think we can match the performance of a stock V2. 1Madstsv thinks he could have exceeded the performance of a stock V2.
I haven't heard of anyone changing the blower, gear ratios, or installing a yank transmission stall on a STSV...
I'd rather tear up my gtp than my stsv. I don't see a stsv running low 11s without a nice nitrous kit with a nice unbreakable rear differential and I don't see a 4t65hd holding up very long running 10s. But it's so much cheaper. But the helluva it I'm modding my v just because I'm car crazy
I just hate to change plugs now then mod later and have to change them again lol. Tr7ix plugs on a stock engine might make it stumble a tad but I don't feel like doing a 2.55 when I know I'm going to do a lower and pin the crank and bigger injectors. I think I'm going 80s not 60s though.
I know TimmyC turbod his car in the past and made like 500whp.
