I bought, a long time ago, a 2007 Cadillac STS-V and the wheels are original but, instead of chrome/silver, they are darker in color (like graphite but a bit lighter). Also the wheel center cap isn't black as the other 2007-09 models but the same color as the wheel with the colored emblem. Does anyone here have any information about it? I'm just curious about it because I haven't seen another STS-V with rims like this. Are they graphite wheels? (I wish). Thank you in advance for your quick response.

    Regards,
    George
Sounds like the same color as my rims. What color is your car?

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

    Hi fellow Caddy friends,
I bought my 07 STS V out of Tampa in June of 2012. I friggen love this thing. Black on black, just a beauty. It does sit in the garage for the winter but I just had the rims re done, changed the rotors to drilled and crossed, zinc plated, new Hawk HPS brakes, new cabin and air filter( yes, cold air will be done next winter ), along with pulley change, injectors, intercooler. I love this like a little kid. I have read countless threads over the last year or two and finally figured out why I couldn't post. So, I'll be looking for answers as well as sharing my knowledge with you all. BTW... I haven't seen a STS V in CT yet. I think I'd chase it 20 exits jus to get a wave. They are a remarkable car with a lot of swag. Proud to be an owner.

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

As mentioned previously I am getting closer to making my Spain/Morocco trip in my '08 STS-V. If anyone has taken a driving tour of these two countries in the past few years I would be interested in hearing your comments and suggestions. While in Morocco I will be making a detour to Ceuta, one of the two Spanish enclaves. They were both written up in today's NYTimes (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/28/wo...s-door.html?hp) . SHould be an interesting drive from Tangier (Morocco) to Ceuta (Spain) and back to Morocco in a late model Cadillac. Ill be taking many photos which Ill be posting here if there is any interest.

This thread might not be the most appropriate for road trips so Ive moved it over to a new thread entitled, Road trips in an STS-V". I hope you will join me in adding your trips to it.

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

I've seen a few STS V's w/ the iForged Legacy V2 Wheels Concave Series and I think they look great on the car.

Does anyone on here know of anyone potentially selling these or have an estimate of how much the wheels would run? (20x10.5 for rear and 20x9 for fronts)

    Re: STS-V owners, check in!

On 4/3/14 I took possession of a black (w/ very rare Tango Red interior) 2006 D3 Stage 2 STS-V. Many D3 go-fast upgrades to the engine including H2O/Meth Injection. The stock Brembos were replaced w/ a Rotora "Big" track brake kit w/ 8 piston front calipers and 6 (?) on the rear. Full Corsa exhaust, 2.55" overdrive SC pulley, lowering springs (to maintain stock ride height), chromed axel hubs, drilled and slotted rotors, Forgeline 3 piece 20" wheels, upgraded SC intercooler, additional coolant capacity to lower operating temp, chrome air intake kit and Livernois custom tuning for 93 octane. D3 dyno rated for 568 HP at the crank. It was D3's original car, owned by Brian Gill, that was built for the 2008 SEMA Show to debut their Cadillac performance upgrades. Car actually has 2008 front fenders on it. The car is truly an amazing vehicle. It's in perfect condition with no dings, scratches or tears. Still smells new inside. 4-4-14 Droid Dump 115.jpg4-4-14 Droid Dump 114.jpg

Nice. That brake upgrade seems interesting. I wonder how they feel compared to stock. Anyway, congrats.

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

I have not had to make any hard stops yet but the brakes are probably a bit overkill f/ the street. The stopping power is amazing. Yesterday on a remote stretch of country road near where I live I got into it f/ the first time from a dead stop. I have an Escort Passport GT2 Performance Calculator in the car and measured 0-60 at 4.2 sec and 0-80 at 6.5 sec. on my first and only run. That's where I called it quits and brought it to a dead stop and nearly smacked my face on the steering wheel. Contacted the D3 folks several times but have got NO REPLY and NO HELP in finding out what exactly is in the car. The previous owner found out some things from D3 that went into the car but not everything when he bought the car in 2010. The brake set up seems like a one-off design for an STS-V. I'm trying to find out where I can get replacement parts if and when I need them. I embarrassed some young man driving a very nice blue 2012 or 2013 M3 earlier in the day on I-75 when I went out to get a haircut. He pulled up behind me and hung there f/ about 3 miles and then puleed up on the left and kept beeping his stupid horn. So I gave him what he wanted. I slowed down to about 50, pushed the shifter into Sport Mode and waited f/ him to to go and then just steadily pulled away from him. That was fun.

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

It would cost about $1000 plus insurance at 1% of the value of the insured car - and it would take approximately 3 weeks from drop off to pick up - if you are interested in hearing more Ill give you a more detailed description of what to do after I come back from my ballroom dancing class!!!

...............for a second there I thought you said something about a ballroom dancing class. Certainly you are aware of the fact that STS-V owners (or V owners for that matter) NEVER take ballroom dancing classes.

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

yes I must have mis written that - well I'm back now from dancing the jitterbug.

I have shipped many cars from the US to Europe and it is a relatively simply affair. Spain is an optimal choice to drive a V - the newest highways in Europe; lightly travelled because of the brutal recession and cops that are not too worried aboutspeeds up to 200 kph. To say nothing of all the A and B roads that dot this magnificent country. I have a freight forwarder in NY that is inexpensive (because she goes directly to the shippers such as Wallenius) and avoids the middle men. So you can ship it for about $1,000 and 1.5% for the declared value. You do not need to put it in a container - it will be fine on a simple Ro-Ro (roll-on, roll-off). These container ships arrive full to the US and leave relatively empty because there are many fewer exports of cars than there are imports. From start to finish plan on it taking 3 weeks from when you drop off your car at the port - that too is the way to go or you will incurr charges giving the car to someone to drive down there. You will also need to have a fully unencumbered title or permission from the lien holder to take it overseas.

The trip, depending on the port of departure and the port of disembarkation takes about 5-8 days. Liverpool or Southampton in the UK is usually first and Spain would probably be last. I always ship my cars to Antwerp in Holland or Bremerhaven in Germany because these are the most professional and efficient ports in Europe. Once you start going south (France/Italy and Spain) you will probably incur more delays, theft, damage or plain bureaucratic inefficiency. Stick to the northerners. You will also need to arrange third party (Green Card insurance) insurance whilst in Europe - this can be arranged through any number of places and can be had for approximately $1,000/year or $80/month. I have shipped over a 1987 Corvette, 1989 Corvette, 1992 Corvette ZR-1, 1997 Cadillac STS, 2008 Corvette, 2008 Cadillac STS-V, 2007 Cadillac Escalade and a 2009 Cadillac XLR. My 2013 CTS-V was a European version bought here. I have not had any problems although when I shipped my 1987 Corvette back for the second time I put it on a Fedex palette and it rolled over a nail which had to be fixed at Bruxelles airport before I could drive off.

    Wow................too cool.

What does your US insurance company have to say about driving in Europe?

The cars were all insured under European Green Card policies

I think that's a pretty good deal! How much do you think it'd cost you for installation? I gotta get some new brakes (maybe just pads) for my car too!

Re: Tell us about your STS-V!

I added the GM accessory after-market slotted discs with the standard pads - no problem with repeated braking at our usual speeds here of 200 kph+. A bit of fading if frequent such as that incurred on the A10 highway between Ventimiglia and Genova where you drive through tunnels and steep drops at speeds between 200 and the limited top speed of 250 kph (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBe4BDwP6eY)
