    Transmission problem.

So within the last week my transmission has been giving me a problem.

Normally my trans fluid temp is roughly 140-150, with a 90+ outside temp. The last week it started getting to 200, and after it heats up my 3-2 downshift hits really hard.

I'm thinking that somewhere the line might be plugged up, not allowing it to flow and cool down. Any ideas?

My 2-3 upshift does the same thing, although I dont see a temp issue.

On hot days or when I drive her hard I tend to see my temps around 190-200. I though this was normal?

Really? My temps for normal driving are usually around 140-150. Only time I have ever seen it hit 190ish is driving through the mountains real hard. And then it drops back down to the 140ish range fairly quick when I back off.

And now its at like 200 within 5 mins of starting my car.

Mine are often high with aggressive driving but they should never rise that fast

6l80 are known to eat fluid. check the fluid level. and refill with an additional half quart of fluid. i race mine alot and have to top it off often. luckily a friend works at jiffy lube so they top it off for free. lol

Putting the car on the lift Monday. Hopefully its just a small fluid issue.

Also wondering if anyone has replaced the oem cooler with a much better one. I tend to do some hard driving every now and then.

So my temps are also right in line with the issues you seem to be having. I also recently changed my transmission filter and fluid, roughly 5k miles ago. Let me know what you find. My guess is we are both low on a bit of fluid.

This is probably right. After a Trans fluid change, drive for a few hundred miles and you'll end up finding that you're a little low.

I had a Trans fluid change a while back and a few weeks later I went back to the dealer so they could check the level. They ended up adding fluid.
