    Re: Rack steering bushings

Is it the same thing as the steering knuckle bushing?

    Re: Rack steering bushings

The steering rack is bolted solidly to the engine cradle and all the connections to the knuckles are ball joints. There are no bushings there.

    Thanks Tim

The reason I wanted to know is that when I looked under the car the rack felt kinda loose where it's bolted to the chassis, and thats where the noise comes from when I move the steering wheel

Check the bolts. Maybe they came loose.

i had some really strange clunk when i moved the steering wheel to both sides, which made me go crazy since i had a lot of issues since the day i bought the car and i thought it could be a bad steering rack but i didn't have any other symptoms except the clunking noise, so i took the car to my father in law's garage and he took a simple look and told me that the steering rack is loose but it was too late at night so he suggested that it might need some bushings, but the great Tim told me that all what i need to do is tighten up the bolts and there isn't any bushings there..

so all what i did was tighten the bolts up and the noise is gone entirely !

as much as i love my car i'm always afraid that she might break down any moment

Why are you afraid? It's not an old or anything, do you drive it hard?

i don't drive it as hard as many people does, it just since the day i bought her i had some issues with the car which made me very careful lol

the good thing is that the car has almost 89k miles which is very good .. and i'm one of those people who really takes good care of their car

i wax the car almost three times a week and i always make sure i don't step anywhere that's dirty or any wet terrains

i'm a freak when it comes to cars haha

Wow waxing three times a week is going above and beyond so yeah, you definitely treat it well! Don't worry too much, these cars seem to be built well.

All the way to the end or just jiggling it from left to right quickly?
