Lowering Issue Ride Height After D3 Spring Install 06 STS V

    Hello All

I am having a issue after installing the D3 lowering springs and I am hoping someone can help. I had the springs installed about 8 weeks ago, and I don't drive the car that much so at 1st I thought it was just the way I parked it on an uneven surface or something, or I was just seeing things, but yesterday I had it out and parked in my garage. After normal driving nothing hard just a quick trip out to dinner I look at the ride height and it seemed off. These are pics of the rear I didnt have a chance to take a pic of the front for comparison.

So the next morning I go out to the garage and the height is lower.

    Does anyone know the cause?????

    Thanks
    Robert

Did they use the rear spacer kit when the springs were installed?

I believe so. Why would that cause this issue?

If they didn't that IS the problem. Check the rear set up and make sure it's there.

If they didn't or they did it incorrectly the shocks are going to try to level themselves.

Right but only when it's turned on. Maybe the car is still settling. When you drove it it got a chance to settle a little more maybe.

I wasnt aware that the car auto leveled... I bet that could be the issue... The car sits at lowered ride height when just sitting, after driving the rear end is higher, for a time then sits back down at lowered ride height.

The shocks are valved to raise themselves to a certain position while driving. It is not an airbag or electrically assisted system. The shock spacer raises the upper shock mount and effectively lowers the car over the shocks. It allows the car to ride where the spring wants to be.

We're all quite sure that the shock spacers are not installed.

The spacers were the cause, the tech was unaware that the shocks did that and just figured I didn't need them.... I love when people make assumptions..

    Thanks for the replies

Yeah ... They should have realized that this was a special kit for the STS-V and it would only include parts it needs to use ... It's not a generic universal type thing.

So, if spacers are installed the car won't settle when sitting and raise after driving?

Re: Lowering Issue Ride Height After D3 Spring Install 06 STS V

Might settle when sitting slightly but will not raise when driving without a load. The springs with the spacers are supposed to lower the back by 1.25 in and the front by .75 in whether driving or sitting. If your back is raising and allowing the wheel gap you originally had before installing the springs, you don't have spacers installed.

    ----------

The nivomat still functions with the spacers and springs. It just brings the car to the newly lowered level. So if you have a full house in the back seat, yes the car should come up to normal ride height when the car is "on." The springs and spacers don't prevent the load leveling from working. The spacers just trick the car into thinking its high enough when in fact it's 1.25 inches lower.

Mines does settle when sitting and raises after driving but no where near the original height

Then you should be good. How long does it sit for. Do you have pics of how it looks when it's "raised" after it's started?
