Re: M.S.R.P. for the STS-V

I'd definately trade 34hp for 60ft.lbs., especially if the torque peak is at HALF (well almost) the RPM of the higher hp motor. The old blown 5.4 is like the antithesis of an S2K motor and I really had respect for it, this new one meh.

Anyway about the STS-V...

Seriously, 60lb-ft of torque will make you dissappear real quick.

I think that the new engine has a much higher potential though. In fact, if they put a blower on it it just may make the hopped up 12 cylinders redundant.

Mercedes has been coming correct with their engines lately. I never thought I would see the day when they would smoke BMW so badly.
merc themselves said that this is a much better engine and i think i agree.

Of course they are going to say that!

1. They just spent hundreds of millions of dollars designing and producing it

2. It is more technically advanced by far

But to the driver on the street power matters more than tech advancement as long as both engines are modern.

Most importantly, the powerband of the new engine is ideal for manual transmission cars, not automatics.

I would be a year's salary there will be some type of blower on this motor within 2 years.

ATBE, the current E55 will eat it up to 100
