Re: M.S.R.P. for the STS-V

E55 AMG - 4087 LBS

STSV isnt known yet, but going off of, the CTS to CTSV change, and loosing a bit since it already has a V8 standard...probably around 4100-4200 LBS.

SO an E55 will probably beat an STSV...but the E55 starts at $82,000

I don't know about far superior. It will be down a significant amount of torque compared to the blown 5.4 in the E55 and S55. Of course mercedes could always add a super or turbo on later to make it more powerful.

The new 6.3 liter engine (really 6.2) is actually very similar in output to the LS7 Z06 motor.

I agree.

New 6.2(3?)L for E63, S63 and others:
...It measures 6.2 liters, revs to 7,200 rpm and delivers 503 hp at 6,800 rpm and 456 lb-ft of torque at 5,200.

The engine in the '06 E55 makes 516lb-ft @ 2,650 - 4,500 and 469HP @ 6,100

The new motor is better suited for a manual transmission whereas the E55 motor is much better with an automatic and it is not even close.

516 pound feet at 2650! That is incredible push off the line.

Wow. Down 60 lb/ft? That will be missed. I think the new car will 'feel' slower.

Exactly

The old motor will beat even the V10 BMW.

I bet that unless gas prices put a halt to the HP wars Mercedes will put some type of blower on that engine to get the torque back where it should be.

600 lb-ft with a blower

supposedly the new motor won't run out of steam in the high end like the blown motors. (that's from mercedes benz). Also the new motor is very light.

By the time it gets to the high end the blown motor is gone!

Seriously, 60lb-ft of torque will make you dissappear real quick.

I think that the new engine has a much higher potential though. In fact, if they put a blower on it it just may make the hopped up 12 cylinders redundant.

Mercedes has been coming correct with their engines lately. I never thought I would see the day when they would smoke BMW so badly.
