Anyone Ever Install An Oil Catch Can On Their STS-V?

I had a very nice anodized red AMW Catch Can on my '05 CTS-V and it was an easy install except f/ making my own bracket.

I can't find any info re: installs of Oil Catch Cans on STS-V's.

Re: Anyone Ever Install An Oil Catch Can On Their STS-V?

I'm going to install one on my V, going with a homemade kit though. I have one vehicle with direct injection so I started researching the problem of carbon buildup on the intake valves due to the lack of gasoline to wash the valves clean. What I saw that interested me is that a lot of people went with an air/oil separator that you'd use in a shop on an air compressor. that's the cheapest most cost effective route it seems to me. Catch cans can cost hundreds of dollars and are really from what I've seen just dressed up versions of the air/oil separators you see on air compressors.

If you use an air/oil separator for for an air compressor you need to plumb so the air flow is reversed from that of air compressor use.

That is something I'm going to do with mine in time. I've designed and built one that works very well, have installed on my truck right now as a test mule. My original intent is to put two on my 2008 HHR SS, it's the 2.0 liter Turbo Ecotec that is DI. Those are notorious for coking up the intake valves. The DI Ecotec has 2 crankcase vents, one through the intake which also houses the PCV valve, and, one that vents into the inlet of the turbo. What happens when you are up on the boost is any crankcase pressure is vented into the inlet of the turbo which in turn blows into the hot side pipe then thru the intercooler, not an ideal situation.

I would like to know where others have installed them since space is at a premium under the hood of these things
