    Spectre intake stg 1 & 2 installed .. Radiator cap issue !

    Hello guys

So I installed the spectre intake stage 1 and 2 on my caddie, and it was a bit hard to install but I did it after all, but I had a problem when I was testing the car as when I floored the gas pedal and suddenly the temperature gauge went up and then it started falling down again .. Is it normal since my car is still untuned ?

One more issue is that when the fluid very warm and the second fan is not working due to the ac off, the radiator fluid will start vaporizing from the cap and it will let go all of the fluid out from the bottom of the car ..

My father in law suggested it could be the radiator cap that causing the issue ,, so is it possible !

I'm not sure I fully understand but it sounds like you have a few problems.

The intake by itself won't make fluid shoot out of any orifice, nor will a tune. You could be low on coolant which would make you gauge fluctuate - it'll read water then air then water...

Is the AC off because of the message on the dash - "engine hot - AC off" or did you turn the AC off?

It's probably coming out of the cap because it's too hot. If you're lower on coolant the car will run hot.

    Hey Dave

Oh no they're too different issues lol and I suck in explaining what I mean

The issue which is always happening is the radiator issue which as u mentioned that it could be caused by the cap

My second issue is that when I installed the intake and I wanted to try it .. When I floored the gas pedal the gauge temp went up with no error messages or something at all

I'm gonna guess your coolant level is low and will fix both problems.

Just fill the coolant first. One thing at a time.

The radiator cap is designed to let off pressure at a certain pressure. As water heats up it produces more pressure as steam. If your temp gauge is indicating hot - it is. The radiator cap is doing it's job.

    so i did several things

i replaced the thermostat with a new Mr. Gasket ( 160 Degrees ) and a new radiator cap, and i dyno tuned the car

i gained 386RWHP on a very hot day and a very warm engine, my tuner just adjusted the fuel and air with no timing adjustment

Dam I want that intake gained. 386hp. Man I would be close to 850hp. And nothing like taking a car with a over heating issue to the dyno. Sitting still and running to 6,800k and 140mph. With no fresh air should fix that right up.

It was the 160* thermostat that gave the 386HP gains.

    ^^^

well i kinda went all the way on this issue to fix it just to make sure everything goes well ..

i replaced the thermostat and the cap and tuned the fans to work cooler but still my gauge goes up when i floor it so my last hope would be cleaning the radiator itself
