Trying to sell my V, is my price nuts?

I bought a V at the end of last summer and this winter was real wake up call on why I can't have a nice car. With the snow and bad roads, ugh... To nice of a car for my job (construction) and these crappy roads. So I decided to sell it after putting new wheel bearings, front brakes and tires all around, I'm trying to not loose that much by asking 17k. I get people offering me 10-12 grand for the car and they say I'm nuts for asking 17. The car is mint and in great condition, not one person has even taken a peek at it. I'm sure once the weather gets nicer more people will be interested. But am I nuts for asking what I paid for it after putting 2k into it? It's on the forums here, had it on eBay (clean car fax, just got stupid emails and texts) and decided to put it on autotrader.

It never really matters how much you put into it, especially for repairs.

    How many miles?

10-12k is about right for 200,000 miles.

It has 120k on it in the classifieds. So 15-17 in perfect shape would be right.

Yea, my dad wants me to buy his 04 Duramax, but a few times when I couldn't get to work in the snow a buddy of mine let me borrow his 08 4dr super duty and I was happy. I'm 6'5 250lbs, I love GM/Chevrolet but the Super Dutys are a lot more roomy.

Unfortunately, repair and maintence items do not increase value. If clean retail is $X, then it's worth $X with no issues. Weather they don't yet exist, or were just fixed, is irrelevant.

Someone who's into these cars might see that a particular repair has been done, say to himself "oh good, I won't have to worry about that", and be willing to spend a little more. But for the most part, it's worth what someone will pay for it.

Re: Trying to sell my V, is my price nuts?

Yea, I knew I was gonna take a hit (loss) selling the car, just wasn't expecting it to be a few grand, ohh well. Gonna keep my 17k price for a while, no hurry to sell. I see more and more Super Dutys coming on the market with winter over and I'm sure there will be more people looking for this V. Thanks for the input guys

Re: Trying to sell my V, is my price nuts?

Just an FYI, as it's sorta blasphemus, but Super Duties are fords! Heavy Duties or (HD's) are GM and Dodge. Sorry, I know it's a mere technicality, but being a staunch GM truck nut, it hurts me to see them called super duties.

Anyway, I think you're pretty spot on with price. I hope you told the idiot sending that he/she's a tool bag for trying to compare a base model CTS to an STS-V.

It's a small market for these cars I think most people that buy them know what they want/are and the rest prob think it's a cts with bigger rims and aftermarket grills
