To All The Silver V Owners

I have done a bad thing.

I was looking on Autorader at all the other V's for sale and i am not sure if i like the shiny Cadillac wheels or the brushed ones. I have the shiny ones on my car and they look great then they are clean but i really like the way the brushed ones look too. What do you guys have on yours? Whats your opinion?

    Reference:

    Brushed:

    Shiny:

I like the brushed when new before the clear comes off. The I like graphite painted and then black chrome but that's not cheep. That's why I bought the car with the wheels like that its cheeper that way lol.

I didn't think there was an option. Silver powdercoat or chrome. I've never seen brushed - or I guess by your definition I have the brushed. Mine look like the top picture.

I have the stock silver with my silver V and they look great when I take the crazy amount of time to keep the break dust at bay.

Wheel Protectant helps a lot, but still have to work at it.

One of the first things i did was low dust brake pads with this car. But the shiny wheels do look great when they are cleaned.

Re: To All The Silver V Owners

Hypersilver is stock. Chrome, PVD plating (regardless of color chosen), Black chroming, are all things people have done to the OEM Hypersilver wheels.

Right now I have my original set (that came with the car), that are in terrible shape, running my Conti DWS's A/S's. Once I get the car out of storage and once it warms up consistently, I swap those out and put the new set of OEM wheels I bought last spring that have my Conti DW's on them, on the car, and then send the originals out to be PVD chromed.

Once done, I will swap tires, putting the DW's on the PVD Chromed wheels, and leave the OEM Hypersilvers (the new set), with the DWS's.

Not worried about keeping any of them clean as the wheels get wiped down on average 2x a day.

This is what mine looks like with chromed factory wheels. I have changed the center caps to an OEM chrome cap since the ones in this photo were a cheap aftermarket set. My windows are also no limo all the way around but that doesn't change the wheels... I think the chrome accents the grill and other chrome trims on the car well but have also been concidering having them p/c-ed black for a more aggresive look.

As cmntmxr stated, the OEM only offered the V with the silve wheel. Anything other than silver has been done by either the dealer or previous owner.

Which pads did you use? And are there any side effects that you don't like? Like noisy or anything?

The factory pads work great, but that crazy dust. I clean them after almost every time I drive. That would be a nice advantage of black wheels.

Dude, I'm still so torn! I have black wheels on my truck, 4runner, sand rail, trailer, and had them on my last STS... I still have the one f-Ed up wheel and it drives me crazy but since I can't make up my mind, I haven't fixed it yet...

I went to AutoZone (they seem to be the only place that carries brake parts without a special order) and got ceramic pads. Plan old ceramic. I had hawk pads on my GTO and I didn't notice enough of a difference to warrant the price difference.
