it's a very high tech without a doubt but technology found on the 3.6l is pretty much found everywhere else

Not on the CTS-V, Corvette, GTO, SC Grand Prix, or SC Monte Carlo.

bmw i6,v8
toyota i4, i6
mitsu i4
porsche h6.....
list goes on and on and on. I think the reason LSx motor doesn't have one is because
1. it doesn't need one
2. adds cost
3. makes the engine package size big
4. adds weight
5. adds complexity

Anybody know if the 469HP NorthStar will come with an automatic? That's why I wouldn't get a CTS-V.

Yes, there'll be 6 speed automatic.

But does anybody know why are the power ratings higher for Europe? Look here and you'll see this:

"European horsepower ratings are 476 hp (PS) for STS-V and 448 hp (PS) for XLR-V"

Is it because there is something different in the car or is it just the difference in measuring the power output in Europe and USA?

different measurement unit and different emission laws.

Also it's going to be available with 6spd auto only

Re: 2006 Cadillac STS-V Boosted to 469 HP (confirmed)

The Northstar V8 Supercharged engine is the same for both Euro and American models. There is no difference in output.

An example of the conversion to PS is 469 x 1.0138697 = 475.5.

See http://www.onlineconversion.com/power.htm

When you see 476 hp or 448 referred to it has been converted from the SAE certified numbers.

I'm not a big fan of Mercedes, but the S65 AMG has an ungodly 604HP and 738 lb/ft of torque. Still very shy of 469hp. (Then again, I don't expect the STS-V to top the $85k mark, so that puts it at about 1/2 the price of the S65.)

Now if Cadillac finally releases the sixteen, thats a different story.

Isn't the S65 around 180,000?
