    Track Results

I headed out to the track today to get some ported blower results. Unfortunately, I hooked up good heard a loud BANG on launching. I looked under the car and saw fluid dripping and the CV boot pulled off. I am guessing the joint and/or halfshaft broke.

    any suggestions for stronger ones?

    Re: Track Results

What the shit? On first launch?? I drive like that all the freakin time on the road. Am I just lucky or flirting with this potential issue eventually? Or is he just unlucky?

Sorry man. You must be pretty pissed.

I too am interested in a more durable solution if anyone knows one.

I am now working on a solution! I will keep everyone updated...

I drive my car pretty aggressively every day. But it was a nice cold day, car was making great power, and it just happened.

    Re: Track Results

G-Force was looking at an STS V axle package with larger diameter/asymmetrical axle shafts to help control wheel hop like they did for the CTS V1. I believe they needed a STS test vehicle to do the engineering. I don't think it went anywhere. That was a while back, and they may not be interested now. Doesn't hurt to check it out.

    Re: Track Results

I was gonna say, contact G-Force. I got some of their stuff in the GTO, and am working my way back to the half-shafts and cryo treated stubs next.

Guy, the reason you (and I), don't break anything on the street is because the tires give way on the slippery pavement and once that happens it fights the traction control reducing power.

it snapped inside the differential. Looks like it's full of metal, so the differential may also need a rebuild. Has anyone seen any used ones for sale?

    Thanks,

That's exactly where mine broke. It tore up the diff a little but I had it bored and sleeved. Stock axles are cheap. I think all we need is a stronger inner stub. That's what everybody breaks.

    Re: Track Results

I can't say I still have all my go fast parts at home weighting to go on the 08. And I still am not shore if I want to go trought it again. I had the snake bite blower upgrade made 470hp but it made 400+rwtq from 1500 to 7200 its the Tq that made it fast. Peek Tq was 480 ish. But that was $1,500 first time plus $80 shiping one way. $480 next time and $740 the next time. All with 80 shiping one way. Then I fixed it the time after that $175. Lasted a year that time till it had a major melt down. That was $800 more having it redone my self. Plus the spear supercharger I got so I could still drive my car. $1,400. Plus all the supporting mods
So I can't say I would do any thing to crazy this time. And I have the parts sitting there looking at my.

    Re: Track Results

Makes me nervous. Cold weather is rolling in so we'll have a little more power. Plus I'm installing new rubber so more grip, hopefully the loss of grip with the cold weather will offset those things and wheel hop won't be an issue.
