Would anyone consider buying one with a prior accident record (showing on carfax)? I wonder if I would have a tough time selling it later.

Depends how bad. There's usually a remark about how bad the damage was. Also where the damage was. Front end scares me more. My buddy got hit by an idiot who was driving a manual for the first time coming around a corner. My buddy was not moving. New rim, front left fender, bumper, left headlight and grille. All body work. Nothing internal was affected.

Rear quarter panel. No airbags deployed. The car was 4 months old.

Rear qp not bad. Any issues that would have come up due to poorly done repairs or other things that broke that weren't initially detected should have been fixed by now since it happened so long ago. I think you're good. But can someone say "it's been in an accident" when you're reselling and give you a hard time? Yes. But if someone did that to me and tried to knock the price down I'd tell them this isn't the car for you.

    ----------

By the way if you're looking at the one I think you're looking at, notice the fogged passenger side headlamp. More than fogged. Replacement at the dealer for a brand new one is around 1100 bucks.

Other than that car looks good. I see he had an iPod plug thing hard wired into the car. Also has the rims chromed.

Well it's fogged in the picture there's no doubt about that. Did they actually look? Maybe they sucked the water out and resealed it. Or maybe they replaced it. How would you get the car? Fly out drive back? Have it shipped?

Well I would tell them the light is clearly fogged in the pictures. Try to talk them down a bit obviously. And understand you're buying a car without actually driving it or seeing it so you MAY have to drop some money on it when you get it.

Too bad there are very few, if any, STSV's near NY. All of them are down south! Don't have the time to fly around the country.

Yeah I saw that. If you're not in a rush, wait. They'll pop up closer by. There just aren't any right now.

You should look into this one. I have seen it first hand and know the owner. Great car and great deal.

Actually, it's going to be a bit before I sell this one. There are some items (stupid lazy wiring job) that I need to correct before I'd even think about selling this to another guy on this board or anywhere else. Sorry.

That is how I wound up with my V. At the time I was shopping for an AWD STS V8, found the V 15 miles from home, drove it at 9pm that evening and bought it. Then I had to go shopping for an additional reliable winter vehicle to replace my 98 Olds. Originally I planned to drop myself down to THREE vehicles, because of the V I'm now at FIVE!

I sure hope it's solid after 100K miles, I'm at 91K now! If not though I bought it from a dealership that covers all their used cars with a lifetime powertrain warranty as long as I have it serviced there at manufacturer specified intervals. Hope I never have to take them up on their warranty but if I have to I'll pursue them like a rabid dog to honor their promise. LOL
