    Non ethanol gas

Has anyone used non ethanol 93 in their V? I've used lower grades in other cars and I can tell a difference in power and fuel economy. But I can't find non ethanol 93 within a reasonable distance of ATL. How does non ethanol 90 compare to ethanol 93?

I don't know how much more power you're going to yield, but you should get slightly better fuel economy. The ethanol burns hotter, that's why small engines don't like it.

    Re: Non ethanol gas

ray---you can get it up at Lake Lanier--- ive bought some for my GTO at a station on Buford Dam rd about 3 miles north west of the actual dam.I felt a bit more power in my GTO--but not nearly as much as putting in racing gas at 110-octane. I havent put either in my V because of our computer---dont know how it would react. As far as mileage- the numbers in svereal fleet tests show 15% better mileage with non ethanol gas.I have an EXT that can use the hgher ethanol mix, i think its 15% and my mileage went from 12.5 to 8.5--i use 93 octane in the 400hp truck. If i were you id mix the different gas with your regualr gas just to minimize and advsercs computer issues, or rum]n you r gas to E and put in a few gallons of either/both to see the affect- There is a BP station up 400 nrar the outlet malls that sold 100oct raing fuel--last time I bought some ot was 9 bucks/gallon--but it madea huge difference in my 60 over GTO

I tried running a couple of tanks of it in a row in my nonV NorthStar... Maybe I was driving it harder because of the "better gas" maybe not but I don't recall seeing anything better mileage wise, if anything I'd say it was worse.

    Re: Non ethanol gas

I go 9 miles away to get ethanol free 93 octane. Did it as soon as I bought the car so can't compare it to anything but it doesn't mess with the computer or anything. When I move back to ny I won't have access to that gas so ill comment in 10 months when I go over to corn gas.

    ----------

My guess is it'll run quieter and with better fuel economy and power without ethanol.

    Re: Non ethanol gas

http://pure-gas.org/ ( Here is a website that might help you out.) I tried some in my car for a while and the car ran with a little more performance but nothing outstandingly noticeable. But after using it for a few weeks it started messing with my computer as far as the morning start up. The idle would be rough on first start up but would clear up after about 30 seconds. The car sounded like it had a radical cam in it or something and then it would sputter really bad then slowly cleared up. Everytime I switched back to regular 93 it got better. Gas mileage was about the same as well. Just my 2 cents.

I use the Pure App, when the opportunity presents itself I will fill-up with non-ethanol 93.

What's the purpose of race fuel?

    Re: Non ethanol gas

it has to do with comporession ratios---the higher the compression, the higher the octane needed for a full, complete burn.My GTO is 11: 1, since its bored 60 over. The racing gas gives a more powerful burn.As to our cars, we have 9:1, but with the SC running, it raises the cyclinder pressure so that at say 15psi, the effective compression will be over 15--so id think racing gas would help. But these Northstars and their computers may not like racing gas--maybe one of our rracing brethrens would step up and see what kind of gas they use

As long as the race gas or non ethanol gas is unleaded it should have no bad effects on the car.
Higher octane helps stop detonation, as long as the computer can advance the timing to take advantage of the higher octane you should see a performance increase up to the point of factory computer limits.
A custom ECM tune could probably take advantage of the 110 octane fuel even better.

I put a tank of non ethanol 93 in. It seemed to handle heat soak better can't really comment on the MPG I was not on a route that I normally travel.

    Re: Non ethanol gas

I actually had to put ethanol 93 gas in my car for the first time since I've owned it because the drive over to Rippy Cadillac was a little far. I didn't make any actual calculations but it seemed that my car ran through that gas much faster than it goes through the non ethanol.

I believe it, I have a Kia Rio with D.I., it gets better fuel economy and seems to have more torque with non-ethanol gas.

thanks @youknoow that non ethanol seems to make my car happy even though its 4.14 a gallon. And the race gas seems like it cleaned up the engine. Car seems to have a lil more pep made me feel like i was driving a veeee lol. And the smell mmmmm

oh and please do not put all race fuel in your car, i only put 2 gallons in, find a race fuel calculator. my sts is 10.5:1 since i have na v8
