Luda, I've been meaning to check the versions. Ill do it tomorrow for sure.

Fierofiend, funny story, I'm the one that uploaded the video and I took it with my iPhone, yet I can't even watch it off youtube unless I'm on my computer. This is the first time I've ever uploaded on YouTube but there was nowhere where I saw I could enable or disable that option.

    ----------

Mj caddy good to hear you'll at least have the problem solved soon.

    Re: No NAV With HUD

Navi changed from 0070 to 00A0.
Audio went from 02.01 to 02.05.

Those are the only two that changed. "Soft Rel" did not change for the record. I'm not convinced that changes with software updates to begin with.

Posted a new video. Shorter. Shows a couple of things I didn't show last time due to being in manual mode the entire time. Demonstrates speed limit advisory stuff. Unfortunately you can't watch it on the iPhone. I can't even watch it on the very iPhone I recorded and uploaded it from. Go figure.

    It's a 2009+ only feature.

    Re: No NAV With HUD

yep the settings are "at limit" "limit +5" "limit +10" and off. I don't think there is a +15 i forgot. It goes off info on the nav disc so not all roads are reported, but most major ones are.

If you're set "at limit" the numbers in the HUD will turn red as soon as you exceed the limit. If the limit is 35 and you hit 36, the number turns red and (if you're not in competitive driving mode) "Speed limit 35 MPH" will appear for a few seconds in the DIC. If you're set at +5, then from 36-40 the numbers will be amber. Once you exceed 5 over (41) the numbers turn red. +10, you get it.

Now, when you're coming around a curve and you have those yellow signs to warn you of a reduced speed limit for the curve, the word "Advisory Speed limit XX MPH" shows up in the HUD in yellow to warn you until you get through the "hazardous turn." A common time this would come up is on those off ramps where you're coming off at interstate speeds and going into a 35mph off ramp. You won't see the advisory if you're in manual shifting mode. The reduced speed limit would still show up in the DIC though. Every time the speed limit changes it shows up in the DIC, again if you're not in competitive driving mode.

    Nice feature.

Hey, what if after you put it in CDM, you then press the arrow up or down (to change the DIC display)? That should get rid of the CDM words on the DIC.

    Re: No NAV With HUD

Is there a way to update 08 to do that or is it on the 09 from different hardware?

    Re: No NAV With HUD

Carter, yes true. That would solve that problem. Good point.

Fiero, the following is a recent post by ddadler in the STS forums as a response to ludacrisvp asking about the feature after seeing it in my first video:

This is part of the Speed Alert/Speed Advisory system. I upgraded my car to include this (required a 2009+ navigation radio, HUD and instrument cluster). The system retrieves speed information from the navigation disc. Depending on configuration, the HUD (and instrument cluster) will display speed limit data. The system can be configured to provide no warning, warning at speed limit, warning at speed limit +5 or warning at speed limit +10. The HUD display will change from green to amber (and some will then change from amber to red as a second interval). This was a base option in the STS with navigation and HUD for 2009+.

Not sure if it's as simple as swapping a 09+ radio in but he's the one you want to ask.
