    Lol, I figured that much out. Why do we have different "NAVI"? Is the unit physically different, or are you saying that yours needs software updating to match?

    I can't say for sure ... all I can say is that we can try and see if there are any updates available for your system (although I assume that your local dealer has already tried this)

    we don't really have a way to check and see what update (if any) you will get before-hand

    Alright. I want to come in and you guys do whatever you can to update my nav. It definitely needs an update. I'm about 98% sure a firmware update will solve this problem and the evidence is here:

    3 people, 2009s problem solved with firmware update.

    Oh and Chris, the second guy who is met with success says that the dealer ordered and installed the "upgrade disc" and the problem was solved.

    one thing i want to make sure of is that you are talking about OnStar TBT (turn by turn) directions? or just normal nav directions?

    the only firmware disc i can order from the navdisc center is the one we already have

    that disc is not referenced anywhere in the 2009 STS service manual

    ...

    I did find a bulletin #09-08-44-007: Head Up Display (HUD) Navigation Guidance Does Not Appear, Radio Audio Not Working When Preset (+/-) Button is Depressed (Reprogram Navigation Radio Software Using Update Discs)

    the disc # it says to use is 20844545

    i can't find where to order that from the nav disc center
    i'll look into this further when i get back from lunch

    if you want to get proactive about this you can call up my service department and let them know that you'd like to come in and get this software update done and that you've found what you think is a TSB that exactly mentions the problem you're having and let them look it up and see for themselves

    don't let them know you've been talking with me already or they will just automatically assume that i know everything about you and your situation

    they will then just come to me to get the discs ordered (which i'm already doing) and we will call you to set up an appointment when we do get the discs in

    that's about all i can suggest at this point until we can get our hands on these discs

    Ok, so I called the NavDisc Center and they told me that this software disc is not available on the webstore only over the phone (stupid I know... but whatever)

    they still haven't responded to my request via the webstore as to what is up with that disc

    so it's on order and will take up to 2 weeks to show up ... apparently the have to cross the himallayas on foot before sending it via carrier pigeon

    ...

    anywho ... it's on order and we'll get it eventually

    Are you allowed to post the whole tsb for others? Does it require the tech 2 to initialize the update like with the 05-07 upstate?

    looks like it's done super easy by inserting the disc

    I'd rather not post the whole TSB (GM has not been happy about that in the past... copyright, etc etc)

    if anyone wants a copy though I'd be glad to email it to them (just send me a PM with your email address and your request for the bulletin)

    I only ask as does it apply for all sts (05-07 included) navs? I'm about ready to que up for my HUD retro fit for my 05 (which means I have to order the parts from you soon) and wondering if the HUD doesn't display directions if this will fix it.

    It will be interesting to see what version numbers change to...
    Guy, be sure to take some before and after photos of the software info from the diag pin code 3657 (since that gives the most info).
