    Common question I'm sure

After contacting Bose with little to no help I turn to y'all as usual. The information I'm looking for is: where can I purchase the proper passenger door speaker in my 2006 sts v. Also ill be doing the repair by myself so if anyone has a few words of wisdom that is always welcome. On a lighter note I recently purchased my first valentine one rd can't wait to dodge those stealthy bike cops.

Will watch this thread as my front passenger door is going out as well. I remember reading that some people said it could/probably is the amp...

I'm thinking eBay might be your friend for a replacement. Probably the same speaker as the standard Bose STS system.

As for the V1, I'm jealous. The only real complaint I have about living in VA is their stand on radar detectors. I have a nice Escort Solo II that sits on the shelf since moving here.

I contacted Bose and all they said is to go through the Cadillac dealership, I figured of all people they would know what exactly I need. I guess ill pop the door panel off and take a look see. The V1 should be here within the next couple days ill post my feelings after a few days. Happy driving

There's a chance you might be able to cross reference the Cadillac part # with a Delco part #, and get the same part for much less in a Delco box instead of a Cadillac box. Or have you tried GMPartsDirect.com?

Why not replace both with a different aftermarket speaker?

I read that they do something with the ohms to make sure the speaker is balanced with all the others; an aftermarket would not be balanced correctly.

Actually they use to attach the amplifier TO the speaker. I do believe the amp is in the trunk so you can replace the bad speaker with any replacement. The problem is that it is a woofer so you would need a separate not a dual cone or mid/tweet combo.

Bose seems to just have a poor attitude when it comes to car audio, I've been in a few Bose retail stores and mentioned car audio and they seemed offended by it.

normally the bose system is 8 ohms. that being said, I haven't checked the sts-v one, however, if that is the case if you put an aftermarket speaker in there that isn't 8ohm you will fry the amps. however you can order the speakers from gmpartsdirect.com they are under the interior trim pieces I think Is where I found it. you can check it pretty easily with an ohm meter to see if it will work or not, they are pretty easy to come by honestly and the end all for this question.

    Re: Common question I'm sure

Well today I found some time to take the caddy to a car stereo place, disappointed again he told me that they could look but probably wont have the speaker in stock so I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and go to the dealership and get overcharged for nothing :\... anyways I got my valentine one going and I LOVE IT! I recommend it to anyone in the RD market. But with the new addition comes a new question from the rookie... How do I make my cigaret lighter turn on and off with the car, I hate that my v1 has to manually be turned on and off everytime, or maybe someone has some info on how to hardwire something directly to the fuse box. Ive spent some time researching these questions and it seems there is a different way for each make/model of car so anyone have some luck on the V series ?

You could simply unplug the adapter from the cigarette lighter socket when you leave the car. Otherwise you could always tap into a switched feed from the fuse box. Just find a feed that is switched with the ignition. A test light or a multimeter would be a good tool to use.

can you elaborate on "tap into a switched feed from the fuse box". How do I turn the cigaret lighter in to a switched feed. What my think is: the radio is a switched feed would I just need a add-a-circuit then avoid the cigaret lighter all together. or scenario two: figure out how I could get the cigaret lighter to turn on and off and use it that way....

You could hardwire the RD to a switched circuit or simply rewire the cigarette lighter to a switched circuit. I honestly think that might be the better solution.
