    Cupped tires

Any options besides replacing them? I am having the bad alignment and wheel bearing corrected. I am assuming that's what caused it.

    Re: Cupped tires

My tires are cupped as well (factory Pirelis). I had the dealer look at my wheel bearings because it makes a loud groaning kind of noise. not to my surprise, they said it was just my tires, and could replace them for $1,700. That was towards the end of last year, And I still haven't replaced them yet.

    Re: Cupped tires

Ps. My experience is its usually the shocks or alignment esp if the cupping is on one side. Di a Google search to confirm. Cupped tires can be dangerous for turns or stopping distance so I'd suggest new tires o

Cupped tires are a balance issue; they can be a shock issue but this is rare.

Your kidding right?! Balancing has zero to do with cupping...

Where and what kind of tires did you get for $500? I'm looking at new tires toward the end of the year and the cheapest I'm seeing is around $900 a set. The tires I want are around $1000 a set.

One of the things I was wondering is can I have the tires remounted on the opposite side wheel. The tires only have about 4000 miles on them.

You can but the car might pull and drive odd and they will still wear out faster. And the handling is not going to be good at all.

    Re: Cupped tires

Kidding? No. High harmonic balance issues are not even felt and can only be measured on Hunter balancers as they list a P value or 'road force' which is the amount of down pressure needed for the tire to be truly in balance. High harmonics are rarely felt but due to the fact that they are a frequency related issue will in fact cup out a tire and particularly a tire with an aspect ratio of 50 or less.
Have a patent on a product to prevent this on healthy tires that I have sold and Bently buys and sells the product - - they too know of high harmonic issues with low profile tires.
