    06 with engine/tranny issue

    Hey guys,

I was on my way to work this morning and something happened to my STS-V, 2006 with 25.5k miles. I was about to pass someone, tranny in drive downshifted to 3rd i think , rpms somewhere 3k-5k, maybe like 60% throttle, and as it was going to upshift, kinda clunked and lost speed, and seems like its in limp mode. The engine light turned on, tranny wont manually shift in manual mode, but it does turn on and drive. What can this issue be? Anybody experience something similar? Hoping its nothing serious, just got the car back in aug 2012 and has low miles. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

that could be alot. what lights do you have on, do you have codes thrown and which ones (autozone can pull them for you), have you reset the negative battery terminal to see if that clears it and fixs the issue (prolly first step to try).

I have not reset the ecu yet. Only the engine light came on. I plan to go to autozone to see what code is showing, then disconnecting the battery tonight.

Well the car sat all day while i was at work. as Im leaving, turn the car on, engine light stays on, rive away and the car feels "normal". I notice that the manual shifter works now. I go to autozone, and just my luck their reader is broke. en route to nearest autozone, I stop for gas and groceries. when I restart the car, I notice the engine light is gone! I didnt get a chance to get the code! the good news is she feels good again. not sure if I'll know what happened unless it comes back.

Shes running normal now. Im thinking the car leaned out cause the ecu to cut power and go into limp mode. Wish i could have gotten the CEL code.

It should still be there as a history code. Have autozone check.
