    Dash Pad Removal

Anyone remove the dash pad from their car? I have a rattling sound coming from somewhere up front, and would like to go in and try to find it if pad removal isn't too difficult. Only info I can find is that the B pillars have to come out, and it looks like the pad should seperate from the hard plastic portion that houses the defroster vent, but how does it seperate from above the glove box and air bag etc?

Just a thought, but you might try taking the Nav unit out to see if you can get to it. That comes out pretty easily, just be careful that you don't crack the trim around it.

    Re: Dash Pad Removal

For anyone interested, after doing some searching around I found a bare dash assembly on ebay with a few good pics. Looks like the upper and lower is all one piece, and not just a simple remove the top pad.

If they are anything like the CTS you will have quite a few screws to take out. Up on top of the dash where the light sensor is you have to pop that panel out and remove a few 7mm screws across the top. Then you have to pull the radio and take out abot 6 7mm screws and a couple of 10mm screws. Then pop the side panels off on each side and remove 2-3 7mm screws per side. You may or may not have to remove the glove box, can't remember. Then look on the underside for some more 7mm screw. Piece of cake.

    Re: Dash Pad Removal

Thanks for the info JW. I was looking at an exploded parts view of our dash and saw that defroster duct panel on top (or "nozzle" as they call it), which appears to snap in/out. I think under that is where the noise is coming from, so I might try taking that off if I get the courage.
