    Exhaust Smell after WOT Runs

Does anyone notice a bad smell from the exhaust for several minutes after a full throttle run up? I just purchased my STS-V and on the drive home the smell was bugging me. I'm sure it has to do with fuel enrichment when you go to full throttle and the catalytic converters. But I've never had a car where the smell was that bad, and for that long. It seems to take 10-20 minutes to clear up.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Brian

You should not smell any thing in side the car from exhaust. If you are there is a big problem check for leaks. My cats were clogging up but I still had on smell and they are removed now and still no smell.

    Mad,

We have spoken before - how did you gut the cats? Seems that you must take the exhaust manifold off to do it or is that my imagination? Also, any engine 'booming/drone' from this modification? Old minds in Hanover want to know.

No very easy to do undo the pipes where they connect to the cat and stick a big screwdriver up there and beet it out then start car and rev it up. Reconnect pipes and your Dunn

And you have no droning? I am led to believe that this droning is prevalent if you gut these cats. Thank you.

drove it some more. pretty sure it's a catalytic converter. The car is not showing an OBD2 code so hopefully it won't be a hassle to get the dealer to repair it under the CPO warranty or EPA 7year. It's only noticable when you drive it agressivly but hopefully they will understand

also noticed the right LED brake light is out.

They will not SOP the manifold unless you are setting a CEL. Trust me I know........ I couldn't bring mine in until I had a steady light. Mine would come on for a few days and then reset. My apt at the dealer was yesterday and Thursday on the way home from work my light went off. I was like "F@#K" luckily it came back on just before I got home and stayed until my appointment. They ordered mine and will call when it comes in. I have forced the code off until I get the new manifold.

Re: Exhaust Smell after WOT Runs

If u are smelling exhaust inside your car when you roll the windows down and not so much when there up I may have an answer for u. It took me a year to figure out, I checked all the body plugs everything u could check, nothing, then on day my car was on the lift, upon inspection of the rear end I noticed something out place above the rear wheel well, I reached up and pulled a vent out that was obviously bad, I tried to clip it back in and was just too loose, we have one above each tire, my mechanic ordered replacements and ever since I have not smelled exaust while cruising or wot with windows down. I found this out of luck so I hope it helps, it annoyed the ish out of me forever !

I had a friend tell me that gutting the cats will cause back pressure problems is this true? I want to do this myself when I get an exhaust system
