Hey guys. Been a while since I last posted. Brought my V in for service and they call me to inform me that not 1 but both motor mounts are broke. I am shocked at this as I dont race or drive it hard. Has anyone had their motor mounts just break?
I had one of mine replaced at 60k that was 'supposedly' broken. I recommend you either get under the car yourself and inspect, or better yet, go to the dealership and ask them to put the vehicle up on the lift and show you the failed components. I have had a serious issue with dealership honesty in the past month...will be posting a thread on it today as a fair warning to everyone.
i remember reading a post a while back about broken motor mounts and the guy said you can jack the car up and replace them yourself fairly easily. i have no idea of the truth to this, but something to think about at least. 1600 seems pretty high for a part that cant be more than 100 a piece im sure.
ppl have replaced them from under the car on jack stands. there is no way you HAVE to drop the subframe. but im sure that is an options. you can find the part for less than half that price elsewhere, not to mention if/when mine go im replacing them with solid ones more than likely. sounds like they are trying to get more money than they deserve. personally, being in the mortgage field, i think the laws we have to adhere to need to implied to mroe fields, the car dealership is a huge one, as well as insurance companies.
Picked it up today. Vibration is still there and feels like transmission to be honest. I asked them the check the tranny fluid as these cars are very sensitive to low tranny fluid. They told me there is no way to check the fluid level. I thought that very interesting as only 5k miles ago they flushed and replaced the trans fluid.
