Re: Lane Departure and Blind Spot Install

The Side Blind Zone Alert uses 2 small radar (of some kind) units mounted behind the rear bumper cover on each side of the car covering a range of about 10 feet to either side of the car and from the mirrors back about 16 feet. The only camera system used on this car is mounted above the rearview mirror on the top of the windshield pointed forwards for lane departure warning.
You will probably need new mirrors, each radar module, likely a new bumper cover that has mounting points for the modules, probably driver's door module and passenger door module, probably access to a tech 2 to reprogram the module, you might be required to have Navigation since the control for enable / disable is on the nav unit.
If the side of your car is excessively dirty you will have reduced functionality. Both mirrors can be lit solid to indicate something in your blind spot, they only flash when a turn signal is on for the respective side of the car.
