    The GM diagnostic tool using

    I want to purchase a GM diagnostic scanner to poke around and do some home diagnose/tweaks/repairs on my two GM cars. Yestoday I found the GM tech2 scanner, but I wanna a cheap one, are there any other devicces like the tech2 that is more affordable?

    There are several different routes you can go. Search for OBD2 scanners. They also hav cables/software that allows you to use a laptop or even your phone (android/iPhone).

    Yeah, but the Tech II will send and receive data to all the on-board computers. It's expensive but there is no better tool.

    Agreed. I'm not gonna say there's a substitute for the TechII. But for what he wants there are cheaper options.

    AutoTap is a great cheap "Scanner Plus" tool. It does alot more than a standard scanner, however it doesn't come near the capability of a Tech 2. Most importantly, Autotap is 1/10th the price of a Tech 2. I agree with everyone's sentiments that a Tech 2 is the best, but the price difference is astronomical, and that is a major factor in a purchasing decision.
